Cisco Downloads --> was --> Re: Cisco 7960 and Asterisk...not working...
I just had to deal with this yesterday. I called Cisco and they gave me a
part number for the support contract. I looked around and it was $90... I
posted back to this list and was happy when someone gave me the correct part
number, which at CDW was $10... Not too bad.
Although I can't believe Cisco waists time with $10 service contracts. At
that point just make the damn thing free.
Anyway,

Cisco 7960 and Asterisk...not working...
Chuck,
The first thing I would do is to upgrade the load to version 6 or
higher. I'm running the latest...version 7.2. (I'm very happy with it)
Are you using TFTP to load the configuration or manually configuring the
7960? I know it's a pain to setup TFTP just for a quick test. However,
it's well worth it. If you have a CCO account you can find the latest
load and config files

CDW Part# for Cisco Software upgrade contract
The CDW part number is: 672205
And the cisco part number is: CON-SNT-CP7960
Hope this helps... In fact I think I will add it to the Wiki.

7960 Cisco SIP Phone TFTP Files
Hi all (is a bit of a Cisco question, but perhaps it's
already been asked here).
I'm trying to setup a TFTP server for dynamic
configuration of my 7960 Cisco phones.
Cisco docs suggest I download the following files from
their web site:
* OS79XX.TXT
* SIPDefaultGeneric.cnf
* SIPConfigGeneric.cnf
* RINGLIST.DAT
* P0S3xxyy.bin
* P0S3-xx-y-zz.bin
* dialplan.xml
* syncinfo.xml

Maintenance Contract for a Cisco 7960 phone
Hi,
I have followed the thread on where to get a maintenance contract so that I
can upgrade the firmware to a SIP version and have called two different
places, CDW and Insight. Neither place will sell the contact, all I get is
a B.S. excuse to why they can't. Has anyone had luck with a more friendly
place or do they have the images?
TIA,
Trevor

Cisco 79xx firmware
I have several Cisco 79xx phones (7905, 7920, 7940, 7960, 7970, ATA 186) and I need to buy firmware for them. I have contacted http://www.cdw.com and http://www.insight.com/ but they didn't respond.
Can anybody tell me where can I buy SCCP and SIP firmware for my phones?
BTW, I'm in Croatia (Hrvatska). I heard that location does matter.
P.S.
My local Cisco reseller wants to sell me

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
Hi all,  Happy Wednesday!
Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco
about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal
directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a
small-business person...)
Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14.
Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just

Cisco 7960 firmware upgrade promblems
I have a second-hand 7960 which I am attempting to upgrade to use a SIP
image.
The phone currently has a firmware release which doesn't seem to be listed
in Cisco docs - P003AM30. On reboot, it finds the tftp server and requests
the firmware image listed in OX79XX.txt correctly, displaying "Upgrading
Software" on the screen. It then continues to re-request the same image from

Has anyone written an XML application for a Ciso 7960 phone running SIP?
I can't find any examples anywhere!
Anyone know of any resources for this? I have read it can render XML & can
get input from the keypad & softkeys.

Vendors for phones
I'm in the process of setting up a test/demonstration system to show that
VoIP is realistic and applicable for our needs. We put a 7905 and 7960 on
a request for quote that went out the other day (to people like CDW &
Microwarehouse). All of the vendors returned thier quotes without
including the Cisco phones. So my question: where do you buy your phones?
We can't buy direct from

Cisco 7960 Support Products
I just tried to order the CON-SNT-CP7960 part from CDW. This is the ~$8 1yr
support contract that's supposed to give access to the Cisco download site
for firmware for the 7960 . wellll, I got a call from CDW saying that Cisco
wouldn't authorize them to sell that product to me. The sales rep
conferenced me in with the CDW Cisco person and he explained that
CON-SNT-CP7960 is an

NEWS: SIP Firmware Available for Cisco 7970
I've just recieved a copy of the new SIP firmware for the Cisco 7970,
those of you with Cisco accounts may wish to try it (shock horror I'm
sticking with SCCP).
This coincides with the release of v8 firmware for all Cisco phones (and
for those of you running Sergio's chan_sccp v8 works fine)
The firmware is now also (and for the 7970 SIP, only) distributed in
".cop" files,
