Patches and questions for spec files
...is is because on a standard redhat system (with or without ximian), a few packages REQUIRE libvorbisfile.so.0 and libvorbisenc.so.0, and thus at this point users having those packages are unable to upgrade to the new 1.0 release without problems. Packages in question are, among others, SDL, sox, tuxracer, xmms, and a few more. Some of these are very common, so if you can, please consider the question if this new libtool version is really needed in this form. I repeat : if it is not necessary, I would advise you to revert the first version number to 0 so that an upgrade to the new 1.0 release...

redhat vorbis install
...s that there's a boadload of packages depending on (since-renamed) vorbis libs: libvorbisenc.so.0 is needed by kdebase-2.2.2-1 libvorbisfile.so.0 is needed by SDL_mixer-1.2.0-4 libvorbisfile.so.0 is needed by xmms-1.2.5-7 libvorbisfile.so.0 is needed by tuxracer-0.61-5 libvorbisfile.so.0 is needed by kdemultimedia-2.2.2-2 So, my question is: is it possible to upgrade redhat 7.3 machines using RPMs? The vorbis.com download page seems to imply this is possible. But it doesn't seem as though I'm going to succeed without forcing a bunc...

Problem with OpenGL
I'm using wine 20010326 to play Half Life. Works fine in software graphics mode, but not quite fast enough to be playable. In OpenGL mode, it runs at about 5 fps, and I get no textures. I have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP. OpenGL works fine in native Linux (I get about 120 fps in the 'gears' program). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get to the bottom of this? -- Steve

No any D3D works
...any :( Firstly my system: OS: Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64 kernel: 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28 19:28:38 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux wine: wine-1.0-rc4 (installed by DEB from winhq repository) GPU: AMD/ATi RadeOn HD3870 512MB GPU driver: Catalyst 8.5 Driver worked property - means native OpenGL appl. Most of non 3D applications on wine worked well ;-) BUT I have no any success to run any D3D game in my base, even if this game listed in 'wine work well' db: Mafia Setup.exe (confi...

more halflife woes :(
...I grepped the function). I tried rebuilding the lib manually (implicitly specifying a -lGL -lGLcore) but that just broke it and wine said that there was no builtin GL support. I know my GL implementation is functional because it works fine with q3demo (installed from binary). I also installed tuxracer from source to verify that my libraries were linking to source properly and it ran fine. glinfo is reporting: GL_VERSION: 1.2.1 GL_EXTENSIONS: GL_ARB_multitexture GL_ARB_texture_compression GL_ARB_texture_cube_map GL_ARB_texture_env_add GL_ARB_transpose_matrix GL_EXT_abgr GL_EXT_bgra GL_EXT...

new to wine, Guild Wars don't display correctly
...e ntdll errors when connecting to internet(areanet). I don't use anything else. I try display by hardware or emulation, with simple or double buffer, in a window or in directly, with pixel shader or not, but nothing works. Per default, my screen is 1024*768*24bits

Note that tuxracer (or ppracer) works so i don't think it comes from the driver, but i can make mistakes...

Instead of changing my graphic card for an nvidia one, is there a solution to play guild wars ? I know cvscedega but i want to use wine (because it's fully free). I'm not a de...

...e game hangs while I'm running it (I can see loading and image with 3 characters). Also StarEdit is very slow, however it doesn't hang. I installed Stronghold Crousader on FreeBSD using wine and it seems to work fine. I installed some linux games (unreal tournament 2004, unreal tournament, tuxracer) and I suppose that DRI works rather fine. My VGA is Radeon 9600 mobile. Wine based "Windows desktop"
Hi, I would like set up a Linux desktop icon and menu item that will launch a wine based "Windows desktop". Ideally the "Windows desktop" should look excactlly like a *default* windows 2K/XP desktop. Is this possible ? Has anybody already done so ? Is that already docemented somewhere ? I think this would allow more users to try out wine using the familar windows gui
