SIP Firmware for Cisco Phones
Just a quick note to people looking for SIP firmware images for Cisco
phones:
To access these files from Cisco's website, you need to have a Service
Contract (SmartNet) on at least on of your phones. I though a contract
was several hundred dollars, but it is way cheaper! Their lowest level,
1 year Next Business Day 8x5 SmartNet program, costs around $70.00, and
gives you unlimited access to

Cisco 7905/7912 SIP image location (on Cisco's site)
Hello all,
I feel dumb asking this, but does anyone have a link to the SIP
firmware for the 7912 on Cisco's site?
I have a SmartNet contract, but I just can't find the link (you can
search for "7960 sip firmware" and find that fast).
Thanks for the help,

...program. I realize it is not difficult to obtain the SIP firmware, but
if you were dealing with a Cisco authorized VAR, they are supposed to
sell you the SIP User license and Smartnet, which allows you to obtain a
CCO login and access Cisco firmware files including SIP. Legitimately
licensing and Smartnetting your phones adds $150-$200 per seat depending
on how far up the food chain you are.
Cisco is the industry leader in terms of market penetration with their

other products prominently features in television shows and movies....

Cisco 7940G licensing with asterisk
Hi there,
In Cisco web site
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet09186a008008884a.html
It says that regardless of the technology used you have to buy a licencse.
Does the license apply to use the phone with asterisk, or, can i just
buy the phone?
Also, the phone does not requiere to use an AC adapter if used with
PoE injectors/switches.

Skinny
At the present time you have to have a VALID ip address in bindaddr for
Skinny to work. If bindaddr is either 0.0.0.0 or simply commented out
all packets requiring the IP address contain 127.0.0.1. I forgot their
nick, but someone in IRC recommended we make Asterisk be smart enough
not to pick that interface, but I'm not sure of that is the problem or
not. I simply have not had the

Cisco 7920 Image
Does anyone know if there is a Smartnet contract or whatnot available from
Cisco for access to the latest 7920 images?
I've got one w/ asterisk that is exhibiting a few of the documented bugs
running 1.0.3 (1.0.7 is the latest IIRC).
Thanks!

Cisco 7940/7960 users
Those of us that use Cisco 7940/7960 sip phones know that we've been
impacted by two very different changes that have occurred over the last
couple of months.
First, when cisco created sip v6.x code, they implemented a new DSP (as
well as other software changes) that effectively drops any incoming rtp
packet that does not have even timestamps within the rtp packets. The
dropped packets

Cisco 7960 SIP Upgrade
I couldn't figure it out on my own. I tried to purchase a Smartnet for the phone, but the original 7960 is not supported.
Is it technically possible and if so, what would it cost me to have someone remote into my network and upgrade my SCCP 7960 to the latest SIP firmware?

CISCO 7940 United_States/7960-tones.xml

I need:

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Asterisk SIP phones to Cisco Unity via CCM 4.0 SIP Trunk
Hi,
I've got a CCM ( Cisco Call Manager ), with a Cisco Unity VM server and
about 45 SCCP phones on the ccm, and 200 users on unity. we want to
migrate all users to IP Phones to ditch our ancient phone system. I would
love to get Linksys-Sipura SPA-941s for the 150 users not on IP phones yet
and run sip to an asterisk server, but have their voicemail on Unity.
these phones are $150 each,

Cisco 7960 SIP Images
What you and so may others on this lise seem to forget is that Cisco is a company offering bsuiness products for businesses. Businesses typically pay by check and wire transfer, especially for items such as this.
If you want home-user pay-by-credit-card service, buy products from Belkin's home line and similar.
Oh...what's that? None of these cheesy Stocked-at-Costco hardware

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
Hi all, Happy Wednesday!
Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco
about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal
directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a
small-business person...)
Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14.
Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just

NEWS: SIP Firmware Available for Cisco 7970
I've just recieved a copy of the new SIP firmware for the Cisco 7970,
those of you with Cisco accounts may wish to try it (shock horror I'm
sticking with SCCP).
This coincides with the release of v8 firmware for all Cisco phones (and
for those of you running Sergio's chan_sccp v8 works fine)
The firmware is now also (and for the 7970 SIP, only) distributed in
".cop" files,

Do I need a CH1 licence for Cisco Phones ?
I've got a question regarding Cisco IP Phones and licencing.
When using a third party PBX like asterisk is a licence required for the
Cisco phones ? Has anyone got anything in writing from Cisco to clarify this
?
Eg can I just use CP-7961G or do I need CP-7961G-CH1 even though I'm not
using Cisco Callmanager ?
