gssapi auth issue...
...ew weeks so forgive me if this problem has been reported-- with the help of some of our Kerberos engineers, we tracked down why we can't authenticate our Solaris kerberos clients to Dovecot. Here's the deal: Our IT organization issued us kerberos tickets of the form imap at foobar.sfbay.sun.com Which I presume is their standard-- and probably not negotiable. However, the hostname of the machine is: "foobar", not foobar.sfbay.sun.com (as reported by gethostname(3c)). So when dovecot does this: mech-gssapi.c: principal_name = t_str_new(128); str_append(p...

where to buy a SIP phone or adapter in SFBay area?
I'd like to buy a SIP phone from a retail store, or from a local computer store in the south bay San Francisco area. Can anyone suggest a place from which I can make such a purchase? So far, I've only found online. Thanks. -alan

failed to resolve SS_TCP_FAST_ACCEPT
...race, I thought I would give some of the networking dtrace scripts a try that I found here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/dtrace/dtracetoolkit/ (tcptop or any other script in the Net directory don''t work. For those of you internal to Sun, tcptop is temporarily here: /net/liondra.sfbay/export/share1/DTraceToolkit-0.92/Net These scripts work great on an s10 RR box. But, unfortunately on an snv_31 box, the SS_TCP_FAST_ACCEPT variable isn''t recognized. #: tcptop dtrace: failed to compile script /dev/fd/10: line 40: failed to resolve SS_TCP_FAST_ACCEPT: Unknown var...

ZFS, block device and Xen?
Hi There, I looked at the ZFS admin guide in attempt to find a way to leverage ZFS capabilities (storage pool, mirroring, dynamic stripping, etc.) for Xen domU file systems that are not ZFS. Couldn''t find an answer whether ZFS could be used only as a "regular" volume manager to create logical volumes for UFS or even a Linux ext2fs, with ideally, the ability to create

zpool split problem?
Zpool split is a wonderful feature and it seems to work well, and the choice of which disk got which name was perfect! But there seems to be an odd anomaly (at least with b132) . Started with c0t1d0s0 running b132 (root pool is called rpool) Attached c0t0d0s0 and waited for it to resilver Rebooted from c0t0d0s0 zpool split rpool spool Rebooted from c0t0d0s0, both rpool and spool were mounted

ZFS space map causing slow performance
Hello, I have several ~12TB storage servers using Solaris with ZFS. Two of them have recently developed performance issues where the majority of time in an spa_sync() will be spent in the space_map_*() functions. During this time, "zpool iostat" will show 0 writes to disk, while it does hundreds or thousands of small (~3KB) reads each second, presumably reading space map data from

OFF-TOPIC: Job opening in Marin County, California
...to topic drift, but like Jim last week, I'm looking for a developer to work on either/both front-/back-end components of our LAMP (with P as in Perl) application. Compared to Jim, I can probably promise a little less abuse but just as many hours and as much stress. More details here: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/eng/669189624.html CentOS system administration skills would be a big plus, too. With apologies, we now return you to your usual yum breakage and miscellaneous rpm incompatibilities.

property parsing in dladm
I decided to take a stab at 6601421 dladm set-linkprop should support multiple -p options along with some related linkprop fixes, but when I looked into dladm.c, was surprised to find that "dladm_parse_props()" is called from do_create_aggr and do_create_vlan in addition to the expected (by me, at least) do_create_vnic *linkprop functions. What happened here? Why do we pass in

Changes to default output from post S10 zfs list
...t snapshot, volume" displays only snapshots and volumes. On systems with thousands of datasets, snapshot information can flood the output, making the default zfs list command less useful in the case where the user is not interested in information about snapshots. One example is jurassic-x4600.sfbay which has around 1700 zfs filesystems but more than 55000 snapshots. This case adds a new inheritable dataset property named "listsnaps" which is off by default. When the value of this property is set to on then zfs list displays snapshot information for this dataset. If the -r option i...
