Splom custom superpanels
...looks over-clunky, it works. Works, at
least, in creating the superpanel: you can try it yourself by
replacing z with a data frame or matrix of your choice and installing
the lattice and RColorBrewer packages. However, when I try to insert
this into the splom function, it all goes to pot. R scolds me for
either missing subscripts, improper subscripts when I try to provide
them, or missing data in the panel function, no matter how I define
one (or don't). Can anyone recommend a solution or show me how to
make my superpanel function more palatable to splom?
Thanks,
Jonathan Williams...

PR#10583
Thank you for your quick reply and for only indirectly scolding me for
abusing the RBugs list. :-) However, I do think there is something
funny in the 2.7.0 docu (or in the code). Things behave as expected and
explained by you for version 2.6.0/2.6.1, but in the development
version 2.7.0 (which I was using) the output is different (see below).
The CHANGES file does mention some changes about the

uniqueness validation perplexity
I want to write a validate routine to check to enforce that a position
must be unique in a category. (In another category, it doesn''t have
to and shouldn''t need to be unique.) I write this code which works
happily for new items:

Adding image file support for Windows
Hi Community -
I would like to request that SYSLINUX be extended to install on a filesystem
image file on the Windows platform. This feature is available on Linux
(option -t); however, on Windows SYSLINUX only installs with a raw device
path.
This feature would be use by another open source project. As an small
incentive, I'll offer a small, token bounty ($50) for the developer that

Server Hacked: Cpanel
Hi,
I have servers of mixed OS, some Centos, some Fedora, and after the flame war that erupted last week (where I said basically nothing and just watched), my server was hacked by this team of hackers, actually their friend:
http://www.sibersavascilar.com/
This made Karanbir's statements about mixing Cpanel and Centos (any maybe any linux distro) come true very quickly. If

Over on StackOverflow someone is trying to get this code to work:

To redirect any message into /dev/null
Hi all,
I'm running a script in my crontab like this:
*/50 * * * * /root/scripts/keepjobrun 2>&1 > /dev/null
However, crontab always sends a message to root (me) about the above script.
How do I stop it from sending any notification?
Thank you very much,

symbols plot
before getting scolded for submitting a (non-)bug report:
when using the 'symbols' function for plotting boxplot data (i.e. using
'boxplots' symbols), I noted that the x/y-position of the symbols is
associated with the center of the box.
while this is obviously natural for a usual plotting symbol (say a
circle or a rectangle), it is probably not desired if one uses the

Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine publishes Samba art icle.
I got mcp mag a day or two ago, Great writeup!!
I was a little surprised that they ran such a glowing review of samba,
with some of the negative implications on NT. It is very nice to see
Microsoft show an interest in interoperability.

outbound shaping
Well it appears i have no clue what im doing. I thought i had the below
script working to shape outbound ftp traffic....however, it is shaping
inbound traffic too. I have NO clue why.
Please comment if anyone has any ideas why this doesnt work. I want to
shape only outbound ftp traffic and not inbound or lan traffic.

Hash.new{|h,k| h[k] = ""} ... but for views?
I sometimes buy myself a default value for a hash using something like
this: h = Hash.new{|h,k| h[k] = ""}. I can now pass ''h'' any key and if a
value has not yet been associated with that key I receive an empty
string.
I would love to do something similar in my partials so that I wouldn''t
have to worry about passing in every variable that is referenced.
