Slow performance with lots of files in one directory
...h copying small files over to a Samba share in a directory that has lots of small files (10000 to 20000 files). It takes too long time to copy new files (they drip in at a fast pace), and smbd eats a lot of CPU time. Is there any way to make Samba run faster in this situation? Squid memory leaks in -stable using libc malloc
Hi, Using Squid with libc's malloc, I'm seeing a big difference between what top reports as memory used for the squid process (SIZE) and what Squid's cache manager reports that Squid has allocated (total KB allocated in the memory utilization page). Squid is using around twice as much memory as expected, and seems to grow without bounds (I run out of memory every now and then).

ports/36998: rsync requires -O2 on BSD to avoid segv?

Works fine for me using rsync's upstream HEAD and 2.5.5 release. So it seems like it must be either something in BSD's patches, or something about your compiler, o...

Filtering jail IP traffic
Hi, IP traffic from one jail to another jail, arrives on destination jail on lo0 having the destination jails IP as source IP. Why not the source jail's IP address? How can I filter traffic from one jail to another, using ipfw of ipf? Cheers, -- Anders.

Hi, I tried applying http://people.freebsd.org/~anholt/dri/files/drm-stable-20030411.diff to stable from today (using device radeondrm and options DRM_LINUX). rsync breaks on FreeBSD without -O2?(fwd from grog@FreeBSD.org) PR 36998
Apparently rsync breaks on FreeBSD if you turn off -O2 (which is the default.) The breakage is apparently inside zlib. You'd have to think it was a compiler bug, but perhaps not. I haven't tried to reproduce it yet. -- Martin ----- Forwarded message from grog@FreeBSD.org ----- Date: Fri, 19 Apr 2002 23:14:46 -0700 (PDT) From: <grog@FreeBSD.org> To: mbp@samba.org Subject: PR
