fast code
Hello, I have two vectors x1 and x2 both in increasing order. I want to select the x1[j]th entry which is the max min of the x2[i]th entry. I can do this using if and for statements but is there a quick way to do it without running a loop? Thank you in advance, Pantelis

release?
Hi developers, I would like to propose making a release soon from the current NUT trunk. There have been a lot of important changes since 2.0.5: new drivers added/refined (e.g. megatec_usb); the switch to Automake; the renaming of newhidups to usbhid-ups; automatic installation of hotplugging files; IPv6 support; improvements to the tripplite_usb driver; improvements to the gamatronic driver;

Will MGE-UPS Ellipse USBS auto shutdown?
I have an Ellipse USBS connected via serial cable to a CentOS 3 box. Do I need to turn off the UPS as the final stage of shutdown, or will the UPS power itself off, before the battery reaches a level to low to safely recharge from? I notice there is the option for the UPS to turn itself off (and on again) unattended if power is restored during shutdown, but there doesn't seem to be an option

NUT and Automake
Dear NUT developers, I have converted NUT's build system to Automake/Libtool. Right now, the new build system is contained in the "automake" branch, at: ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/nut/branches/automake I plan to merge this into the main branch after a period of testing, if there are no objections. Here are some highlights: * automatic dependency tracking: no more need to do this

Tripp Lite Internet Office 350VA
This is a USB only ups. I could not make it work with nut. So I put this daemon together. Get it from http://www.vsys.org/sventura/dev/ at the bottom of the page. Init scripts are gentoo based but I think it should be easy to adjust them to any distro. I am planning to integrate it with nut if I can find the time and there is enough interest on it to justify the project. This is a very entry

JGR doesn't launch after updating to R 2.2.1
Dear r-helpers, After updating to R version 2.2.1, 2005-12-20, powerpc-apple- darwin7.9.0 (from binary), JGR wouldn't launch. I then deleted everything I could find related to JGR, and reinstalled it from the latest binary. Both R and JGR are installed in /Applications/ \~LocalApps/mathStat/. Advice on how to identify the source of the problem? new R package BRugs
Hi, this is the first announcement of a *developer version* of the R package BRugs, which is based on OpenBUGS 2.1.0. OpenBUGS 2.1.0 has been released earlier this week (http://mathstat.helsinki.fi/openbugs/). BRugs contains a complete OpenBUGS installation as well as R code to access OpenBUGS functionality from R. Simply install the package, load it and say ?BRugs and ?BRugsFit respectively. Sources (BRugs_0.2-0.tar.gz) and Windows binaries (BRugs_0.2-0.zip) are available fr...

Makefile for embedding OpenBUGS in R package
Dear list, I'm trying to embed OpenBUGS in an R package for use of it on 64-bit Linux. In order to get the CLI working one has to compile C code contained in $OpenBUGS/Manuals/CBugs.html (copied to say CBugs.c) using gcc -m32 -o bugs CBugs.c -ldl I put the OpenBUGS distribution in the ./inst subdirectory of the package root. Where should I now put the CBugs.c and how

Tripp-Lite OMNI650LCD
Hello all; I am new to this list. Recently we have been getting these cheap new Tripp-Lite "LCD" style UPS'es around here, and I was surprised to find the lack of Linux support. The model name is OMNI650LCD. Anyway, I tried the tripplite_usb driver and got a message instructing me to contact this mailing list. I might try to fix the problem myself, if I was more familiar with the

ups question from your web site
Dear Nick, thanks for writing. I no longer work on development of UPS drivers; you will probably get a more up-to-date answer from the nut-upsuser mailing list (cc'd). I don't know if the Back-UPS 550 has similar commands to the Back-UPS ES 650. If it has a USB connection, then the answer is probably yes. The UPS will automatically turn itself back on after a power failure; this is the
