procmail, and the care and feeding of mailing list content received
Some threads just go on too long. Personally I think a troll has hijacked the main centos list again and is inducing food fight behaviours while that troll perfectly 'innocently' asserting that it is just respoding to all email. see: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4216011961522818645 for a discussion of the problem of 'capture' in FOSS projects. But if one loses

Blocking spamblocked.earthlink.net
For those who don't know, Greg Houlette sent in a request from an address that doesn't conveniently accept replies. If people can't be bothered to read our replies, we shouldn't be bothered by their requests. Just a note. Maybe a request for a killfile. --Dan

Redundant Database, Pgsql ?
If I understand open source Postgres correctly, though, this setup basically requires that the application be read-only, or at least be intelligent enough not to attempt to write to a host if it has failed over to it, right? Don't you have to have human intervention to actually fail the master / primary over for write purposes? Sent with Proton Mail secure email. ------- Original Message

Duplicate Mails
Hi, due to some idiot not being able to configure his Exchange server correctly, this list has been swamped by loads of duplicate mails. There were still several hundreds of mails awaiting delivery to this list. I have removed all of those from the mail queue - so if you are missing a mail you have sent, please resubmit it, it probably was lost while I cleaned the queue as I had no way of

Flame war police
Hiya everyone, Is there a way to disable a thread that has degenerated into flaming? The recent "discussion" on /var/run descended into some quite nasty places and perhaps a lid should have been put on it. This seems to happen every few weeks and is somewhat embarrassing when I'm trying to persuade people of the "active and friendly Centos community" It was a shame that

root filesystem as ext3
I've turned my root filesystem to ext3 and also changed the filesystem type in /etc/fstab. I initiated a powerfailure and watched booting. But the kernel mounted root filesystem first read only as ext2 and does than a fsck for ext2. The over partition, /boot and /vol1 (also ext3), are handled as ext3. After booting all partitions, also /, were mounted as ext3. But why root is checked as ext2?

Redundant Database, Pgsql ?
I don't even get what the advatages are of doing this with sql. If you use local replicated ldap and use local credential caching then your master ldap can go down without issues, even the local caching handle some local slapd issues. I guess the local caching is also faster. Afaik were databases not designed for this purpose and a better fit is ldap. > > If I understand open source

Digium FXO Card
Hi, I wish to know if GNUGk can work with * running as a gateway with the Digium FXO card. Kindly share your experiences in case there are some issues which one must know before going in for such a setup. Also, I've been reading about the DialTone detection capability by the hardware in different countries. What are the issues with it? Thanks & Regards, Deepak ----- Original Message

I believe both mailing lists are great but there are so may postings that many issues get missed. There are some bugs that hand never been resolved because developers are unaware of it. I just setup forum for xen users at sam.hebe.us/forums please be free to join _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-users
