How do I use the developers version of Wine 1.1.20?
I'm still not sure how I did it, but I managed to use the link http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine for the latest development version, and even installed git (blind man navigating New York City streets). So now all I have to do is
Code:
git fetch ; git rebase origin
to stay up to date. My question is how do I run programs with it? When I do the normal
Code:
wine setup.exe
for example, it s...

I want to contribute code for wine and become a developer.
I am porting wine to MIPS and do some job in winebuild/ntdll/ etc.
I am using qemu to translate x86 instruction and direct the win32 api call from the qemu to wine in MIPS version.
Wine on mips is running now! I want to contribute the modification to wine .
How can I do that?

specify version in wine-git?
I am setting up wine-git for the first time to try a patch, I am doing so following directions from here: http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine
It looks like when I do the command
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git ~/wine-git
it is going to grab the latest version, I assume 1.1.17.
Is there a way I can change that to version 1.1.15? My end goal at the moment is a stable system and other than the problem I am trying to patch e...

Lightroom 2 - Network drive issue
Has anyone been able to find a workaround for the Adobe Lightroom 2 Network Drive issues? Lightroom doesn't like installing the main Catalog on the wine c:\ or anything else, for that matter.

After update and compilation of Wine - version isn't changed
I downloaded Wine sources using git-gui, compiled it and it worked great. Then I wanted to update it, so I run sudo make uninstall, then in git-gui I did remote - fetch from origin.
Then I did
./configure
make depend
make -j4
sudo make install
And when I checked the version with wine --version, it gave me the old one
wine-1.1.5-399-g82f77cc
instead of
wine-1.1.5-xxx-g3a2dda1

git pull != svn update ?
Please someone explain:
I cloned wine.git 3 weeks ago; yesterday I did "git pull".
The command
Code:
git reset --hard origin
resets the repo to the state it was on Feb 6 and that's not what I want.
I want only my own commits to be reset by this command, like it was until I did "git pull".
In other words I want to sync the local repo with the remote, so it would be

fast WINE update distro recommendation needed
I am getting ready to reinstall Linux and am looking for a distro with a
repository/package management system that stays very current with the WINE
builds. Does anyone use one they can recommend?
I am still learning and have tried to do my own builds to stay current with
WINE versions but the process is still beyond my skill level and has failed
horribly each time, so until I learn more I am

GIT and debug symbols..
I use GitWine to make my tests and report bugs. However, one particular user on Bugzilla constantly tells me that wine debug symbols do not appear in my bug reports.
Can someone confirm me that compiling WINE from source includes the debug symbols? If not, what must I do to include them?
Thanks!

Re: Call for translators
Looking at the page I see someone allready doing the Dutch translations, however there are a lot of errors in the translation when it comes to using past, future and present in the 8 string tables i looked at so far.
Unfortunatly theres no information on how to contact the person in question to notify him about the mistakes.
How would you advise to get this improved?

what do the letters "HQ" stand for? :D
Excuse the possibly stupid question, but what exactly do these letters mean, following the word WINE? I only heard about abbreviation "headquarters" and "high quality".
