FLAME
Yesterday I ported FLAME to OS X (http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/flame/index.html). FLAME is a system to automatically (currently semi-automatically) generate efficient and correct linear algebra routines in C or MATLAB or MPI from descriptions of the algorithms. It uses code that relies heavily on partitioning of matrices, and avoids indices as much as possible. There are a number of

Wine is very slow
Hi, I'm trying to perform a installation of FF8 with wine, but the installation is very slow. About 2h to perform 10% of the install. Is there any reason about that ? I've a good configuration so it's not the fault of my pc. Second, no network connexion is available. Can I make it works ? Thx for your help. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

Flame war police
Hiya everyone, Is there a way to disable a thread that has degenerated into flaming? The recent "discussion" on /var/run descended into some quite nasty places and perhaps a lid should have been put on it. This seems to happen every few weeks and is somewhat embarrassing when I'm trying to persuade people of the "active and friendly Centos community" It wa...

Should List be Moderated?
In light of recent flame baits and advertisements sent to the list, I would like to seek opinions of list members on making the list moderated. I certainly don't have time to moderate the list myself, so I would suggest giving at least a half dozen, maybe more, people the ability to approve posts to keep it flowing quickly. Moderators would be asked just to approve/disapprove based upon a

Problems with mongrel on NetBSD
I seem to have a (recent) problem with mongrel on NetBSD. I''m running a development release of NetBSD (called NetBSD-current 4.99.34). When I start mongrel, it listens on the IPv6 wildcard address, but not on the IPv4 wildcard: => Booting Mongrel (use ''script/server webrick'' to force WEBrick) => Rails application starting on http://0.0.0.0:3000 => Call with

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Hello Brain, for such new software you go with Centos 7. The older version is more rocket stable, but in case you use such new laptop the newer one is the better / best choice. You need to upgrade the kernel, there is no way out. Centos deliver ?only? 2.6 or 3.10. http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-lt or http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-ml can fix this. - Totem and multimedia isn?t work fully.

R, S, S-Plus, whence comes thy name?
I appeal to those entrusted with the keeping of the R flame, the S flame, and the S-Plus flame to relate a bit of history. How did S, S-Plus, and R get their names? Going from S to S-Plus appears clear, a commercial company purchased rights to S, developed a product that they wanted to indicate was related to S, but was more fully developed. This leaves me with only a rumor how S got its original

CentOS Based Fierwall Document
For those of you that either have an older revision of my firewall document, or are otherwise keeping track of it, there is a new version available. The current version of the document is version 3.1. It's changed rather significantly in some areas.

flame request
I've upgraded from Mandrake 10.0 to 10.1 CE, which meant moving from wine 20040213 to 20040813. It sorta runs , I have the C drive pointed to the win directory off my home dir thats used by win4lin, I know it can see this as the fonts are OK. I can only get regedit and notepad to run from the menubar, plus the old problem of not finding c:\ and running a VOIP prog called echolink which runs

Slightly OT: OpenPBX.org and Freeswitch
This is slightly OT in that it isn't specifically *-related, but I was wondering what the members of the * user community felt about these two subjects. I've been perusing the OpenPBX.org mail list and the current hot topic is the fact that their project has come to a grinding halt. They are concerned that they don't have enough people working on their project. They feel that * has

Exim VS Postfix (no flame wars please)
Can anyone, who has used both Postfix & Exim please share some experience with me? Which of these 2 did you prefer to use, and why? cPanel uses Exim (and AFAIK, only Exim), VirtualMin seems to use Postfix by default and often times when a custom server is installed a client doesn't know which to use so we recommend Exim. But, what are the differences between these 2, from your experience,

Sipura endpoints
Anyone have experience with Sipura's? Anyone know if they offer a warranty? Would like opinions on these, good or flame. We bought *one* to test with and it died, can't even get a response from Sipura "support". Could anyone recommend another device to replace these? Prefer 1 or 2 port design. Ty :-)

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Oh, I wouldn't flame you. Hmm, I didn't think of using a virtual machine. The Lenovo has a NVidia 960MX, so I wonder if it would fully work under a virtual machine. The reason why I ask is that I do systems adminstration with meteorological software that requires OpenGL 2.0 and at least 2GB of video ram. Thank you for your reply, Mike. Stuck Voicemails?
This question is about 1.2.x asterisk. Please no flames, or "you should upgrade to 1.4". Does anyone know what might be the cause for 'stuck voicemail's in 1.2.6asterisk? By stuck, I mean the phones show a voicemail, and if you log in you get "you have 1 new voicemail", and if you delete it it says 'deleted', however it remains. Going into the mail
