2-3 uplinks, nat and failover...is it possible?
Hello, I am trying something crazy here. I have gone through the old archives, lartc.org and lot''s of documentation, but still something is wrong. Here is the situation; The server is Fedora core 2 running kernel 2.6.5 I have 2 uplinks to two different ISP''s. (It will be 3-4 in the future). These ISP''s should serve the bandwith to local clients with multiple subnets.

libsmbclient in Mac OS X / Darwin
Dear folks: First of all, thanks for a great product and please do keep up your fine job with samba. As a humble contribution to your project, below is a patch to configure.in that allows libsmbclient.so to be correctly built in my system (Mac with Mac OS X). I hope this to be useful. I also noted that the generated Makefile, did not correctly install the library as the 'install'

How to bond pppoe links
I have three ADSL lines that I''d like to use as one big pipe to the internet. The ADSL service works by establishing a pppoe connection (the ADSL "modem" is a bridge), and each pppoe interface gets its own IP address. This means I''d have to have 4 ethernet interfaces (3 for each of the ADSL modems and 1 for the LAN) in my gateway. I''d setup the gateway to NAT

No adsl in dom0 - Fedora 7
Hi, I am having problems establishing an adsl connection in dom0 (but ONLY in dom0, without xen everything is ok). Following is my setup/situation: 1. Installed clean Fedora 7 (with virtualization option selected) 2. Booted with the non-xen kernel & setup adsl. Adsl connection works without any problems. 3. Rebooted with xen kernel into dom0. 4. adsl connection can no longer be activated

general shaping rules
Hi, i dont fully understand this sentence, could someone be so kind to expleain me it? Any router performing a shaping function should be the bottleneck on the link, and should be shaping slightly below the maximum available link bandwidth. This prevents queues from forming in other routers, affording maximum control of packet latency/deferral to the shaping device.

PSTN Incoming call on real line disrupts VoIPcall over DSL circuit - EXPLAINED
DSL works by using the frequencies above 4k that were unused in POTS loops of yesterday. Load Coils, Bridge Taps, and DC taps are all devices added to lines to increase their reach and stability, unfortunately, they are DEADLY for DSL. Other problems can effect DSL service, and cause it to be 'flaky'. 1 Temperature, in Florida the large black cables are constantly beaten down by the sun,

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Maarten, Yes, I'm behind ADSL with PPPoE but I don't think it is related with my case. When my client disconnects from IceCast server for 15-20 seconds, my active downloads are not interrupted. It currently effects only the route to my IceCast server, other routes looks uneffected. I'm pinging IceCast server continuously and checking trace route periodically. It is comething like:

Audio going blank for a few seconds and then comes back. What could be the reason?
Hi, Everything was working fine on this 10 phone office, but for last few weeks they are complaining that audio goes blank for a few seconds during the conversation, and then comes back on. It goes blank for both parties. What are the possible causes for this to happen? -- Zeeshan A Zakaria -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

QoS script for gw without NAT?
...ce-LAN.png I _really_ have a need to do QoS on my connection, for example I host websites that uses all available upstream. When I download at the same time it cant respond to ACK''s fast enough so get very slow download speed. Its also ADSL that I got so I got nice long buffers at my ISPs DSLAMs that shouldnt be filled. I have tried to figure out how to write QoS rules that did what I wanted, it didnt work very well. My gw have over 100 TCP connections every given moment and there is bunch of people that will be affected (not counting web/ftp/mail/dns requests) if it goes down or misbehav...

VoIP experiences with Cable and DSL
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, A thought occurred to me; Background; In the early days of cable, the cable people seemed clueless to things like over selling bandwidth. But as time went along they got it better and better under control. Of course their natural competitor, DSL, created a bigger demand for them to get things under control. Today cable is often giving

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Taner I doubt that the change of routes does not affect your connection, because this is normal practise with carriers (BGP or least cost routing) and usually it has no impact on the enduser, as it happens in milliseconds. My personal thinking is, that your ADSL Provider disconnects you once or twice a day to unload the DSLAM port and sometimes, if you do not have a fixed IP address, you

ISDN phones & Asterisk, ASDI and then some
Hello all, New to the list, Asterisk and this wonderful world of convergence. From reading the docs, list and websites I hopefully correctly understand that I can use a plain cheap isdn4linux supported ISDN (passive) TA to hook up the PC to the ISDN line from the telco (FXO card?). Next in the PC I also need a FXS card like a Digium TDM10B or PhoneJack so I can hook up an analog phone to it. In

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Tom, You might be right, but I don't get why my existing downloads (I guess they are on different routes) are not affected. If my ADLS provider is doing some IP adjustments (btw my IP is static) I expect everything to disconnect, not only my icecast connection. So I'll monitor my USRobotics logs today and tomorrow so see if there is something strange. Regards, On Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at

hard disk install failure
Has anybody successfully installed CentOS- I tried (several times) installing CentOS-5.6 from a hard disk, and each time it failed after installing all the rpms, with the warning "The installation has tried to mount image #2, but cannot find it on the hard drive." When I pressed the Debug button one time after the failure, it seemed to say that it was looking for the file in

Shorewall and sshdfilter
Hi All! Been quite a few years and lots of water under the bridge but here I am back! I have a customer that has now decided they need a bit more bandwidth over and above their fixed line! They are not in a good area for ADSL because of copper theft and being a bit to far from the closest DSLAM! They have installed a wireless link and I have made certain that put it behind my simple iptables
