How to bond pppoe links
I have three ADSL lines that I''d like to use as one big pipe to the
internet. The ADSL service works by establishing a pppoe connection (the
ADSL "modem" is a bridge), and each pppoe interface gets its own IP
address.
This means I''d have to have 4 ethernet interfaces (3 for each
of the ADSL modems and 1 for the LAN) in my gateway. I''d setup the
gateway to NAT

No adsl in dom0 - Fedora 7
Hi,
I am having problems establishing an adsl connection in dom0 (but ONLY
in dom0, without xen everything is ok). Following is my setup/situation:
1. Installed clean Fedora 7 (with virtualization option selected)
2. Booted with the non-xen kernel & setup adsl. Adsl connection works
without any problems.
3. Rebooted with xen kernel into dom0.
4. adsl connection can no longer be activated

[Bug 72] New: ICMPs sent by REJECT are not getting SNAT'd

iptables v1.2.7a
This is the email I sent to the netfilter user list....
Hi, I have a somewhat convoluted setup, so I'll try to describe it.
DSL provider gave me a /29 for my machines
(say, 200.1.1.0/29)
DSL provider also supplied a /30 to go between DSL modem and the DSLAM.
(say, 201.1.1.0/30 - irrelevant here, really)
I am using a random /30 to go between the DSL modem and my firewall
(say, 10.1.1.0/30)
Here is the visual:

general shaping rules
Hi,
i dont fully understand this sentence, could someone be so kind to
expleain me it?
Any router performing a shaping function should be the bottleneck on the
link, and should be shaping slightly below the maximum available link
bandwidth. This prevents queues from forming in other routers, affording
maximum control of packet latency/deferral to the shaping device.

PSTN Incoming call on real line disrupts VoIPcall over DSL circuit - EXPLAINED
...nds, When the line 'rings' it sends voltage down the line if there is a short, or a ground open somewhere it changes the properties on the line causing havoc with the line.
After reading this post, I feel that the problem is, a. Bad Westell, b. Bad loop.
Bell will run a loop test from the DSLAM 'out' to your site. While they are doing this, call from another phone to make sure the test fails, or shows what the problem is.

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Maarten,
Yes, I'm behind ADSL with PPPoE but I don't think it is related with my
case. When my client disconnects from IceCast server for 15-20 seconds, my
active downloads are not interrupted. It currently effects only the route
to my IceCast server, other routes looks uneffected. I'm pinging IceCast
server continuously and checking trace route periodically. It is comething

Audio going blank for a few seconds and then comes back. What could be the reason?
Hi,
Everything was working fine on this 10 phone office, but for last few weeks
they are complaining that audio goes blank for a few seconds during the
conversation, and then comes back on. It goes blank for both parties.
What are the possible causes for this to happen?

QoS script for gw without NAT?
...ce-LAN.png
I _really_ have a need to do QoS on my connection, for example I host
websites that uses all available upstream. When I download at the same time
it cant respond to ACK''s fast enough so get very slow download speed. Its
also ADSL that I got so I got nice long buffers at my ISPs DSLAMs that
shouldnt be filled.
I have tried to figure out how to write QoS rules that did what I wanted,
it didnt work very well. My gw have over 100 TCP connections every given
moment and there is bunch of people that will be affected (not counting
web/ftp/mail/dns requests) if it goes down or misbeha...

VoIP experiences with Cable and DSL
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
A thought occurred to me;
Background;
In the early days of cable, the cable people seemed clueless to things like
over selling bandwidth. But as time went along they got it better and better
under control.
Of course their natural competitor, DSL, created a bigger demand for them to
get things under control.
Today cable is often giving

...change of routes does not affect your connection, because
this is normal practise with carriers (BGP or least cost routing) and
usually it has no impact on the enduser, as it happens in milliseconds.
My personal thinking is, that your ADSL Provider disconnects you once or
twice a day to unload the DSLAM port and sometimes, if you do not have a
fixed IP address, you even get a new IP address.
This disconnect takes a bit long to synchronize in your case.
Have you checked that? Look into the logfile of your modem/router.
If so, then force your modem or router to do this disconnect at a fixed time

I tried (several times) installing CentOS-5.6 from a hard disk,

When I pressed the Debug button one time after the failure,

Shorewall and sshdfilter
Hi All!
Been quite a few years and lots of water under the bridge but here I am back!
I have a customer that has now decided they need a bit more bandwidth over and
above their fixed line! They are not in a good area for ADSL because of copper
theft and being a bit to far from the closest DSLAM! They have installed a
wireless link and I have made certain that put it behind my simple iptables
firewall! My old script will no longer cut it as I need all the raw power of
Shorewall! I had total success with it in the past in a very complex
situation! Almost like multiple DMZ type of setup!...
