Mozilla nacking up to peek inside a vorbis file
...e, uploaded the samples in q1 & q3 vorbis- when i click on the links in Mozilla, it opens the file in the window, displaying the files as text. How could i change the html file i've linked them on so that when people click on the links, this won't happen? http://galileo.spaceports.com/~djdij/po/index.html code that works in Mozilla & IE would be handy (its also worth noting that in Mozilla, you dont get that irritating ad window at the bottom of the page) <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsub...

backing up comments
All this talk about vorbis comments has made me think. Would it be possible to create backups of the Vorbis comments for my vorbis collection (currently about 1850 files) ? Instead of having to make sure I enter the correct details into CDex (saving in to cdplayer.ini & backing up that), or if I have comments in the Vorbis files that aren't stored in cdplayer.ini, such as the tags

fitting lots of music into 10GB with Vorbis
Hi- just wondering, what would be the best quality rating to use to fit lots of music into 10GB of HD space. The audio quality has to be high enough for it to sound good when played through PA systems (for when my college is stupid enough to forget to hire a DJ, or when the realise the DJ they always hire can't use a mixing desk properly) ranging from a functional PA system thats stuck in the

peelable streaming
question: would it be possible to mess around with icecast2s' relay ability to kind of cheat a peelable streaming thing? eg: client needs a bitrate lower than what is available, client tells server this, server relays to itself, or other available server, at a required bitrate, server forwards new stream info to client and so on. <p>--- >8 ---- List archives:

Using icecast2 with MP3 problems
Its my understanding that with any Icecast 2 source, you don't have to re-rip to get them to ogg, just tell your source to send vorbis instead of mp3. At least thats how it works with Oddcast anyway. > I've downloaded and compiled icecast from cvs and the ices-0.2.3 from > the download area for MP3 support.. P2P comments thingy
I had an idea. I find it really difficult to get all the correct comments into my vorbis files, especially since i mainly rely on the freedb.org connectivity within CDex to save me from the time consuming task of getting the correct data into the files, making sure everything is spelled properlly etc. So i was just wondering if theres any viable point in the existence of a P2P comments software

midi data to control lighting desks
Hi- just wondering how things are progressing on the stick-midi-data-inside-a-vorbis-file (so i can sit back, relax & get drunk instead of manually doing a really complicated lighting show) <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org'

Album List for wa2 saying it supports OGG when it really doesnt.
Just a quick email to say looks like someone needs help: http://albumlist.sourceforge.net/ the newest version of the plugin for wa2 says it supports OGG- it doesnt, it just automatically adds "OGG" to the list of file types to scan. If OGG were supported, then the plugin would correctly display the times for the albums. Which it doesnt (at least on my pc). Anywoo, just thought someone

Transcoding between Vorbis and Vorbis
I know transcoding is a bad thing. However, i am in the need of being able to lower the quality of an ogg file without the original CD. Whats the best way to do it (least generational loss possible) - "ogg > ogg" or "ogg > wav > ogg" or is there an easier way (as in has someone got a decent working peeler up there sleeve and isn't telling anyone about it)

MIC input on win98
apparently an older version of Oddsocks' Oddcast could do mic input. You could also try finding one of the many line input plugins for winamp, and find one that can send data to the DSP plugin- that might do the job. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ajb" <ajb@jireh.co.uk> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Friday, January 10, 2003 5:24 PM Subject: [icecast] MIC input on

iTunes / quick time
Any idea if/when there will be official ogg support for iTunes or Quick Time for Mac ? The dual G4s have this stupid thing where if we stick the quick time components on the Mac and it screws them up, or the Mac gets screwed later, then it nacks up the warranty or sumthin. Basic point is we need official quicktime or iTunes support so we can play Vorbis on the Mac!!! Anyone heard anything on

sticking a speex file inside a vorbis file
I forget the correct terminology, but anyway, sumthin struck me while getting help for sorting out my previous problem. Among other things (apart from doing the gigs with my computer) I use the G4s (and soon hopefully 1 of those nice dual G4s we just got) to record tracks of the different ppl & bands on our course (which is BTEC Popular music btw) using Pro Tools. Since Vorbis has the

use of ogg midi to control lighting desk
Hi- i'm kinda busy doing other stuff at college to read through the mailing list properly, but i read somewhere before that midi data embeded in ogg vorbis files could be used to control lighting stuff. The lighting desk at college has a midi input to control most of the lighting functions. Its also right next to the sound desk. So i was wondering, if it is possible to stick midi data into
