sp: proj4string has no impact
Hi all, I'm faced with a problem applying the sp package: The projection argument in readShapePoly(Shapefile,proj4string="CRS class argument") e.g.: CRS("+proj=aea +lat_1=46 +lat_2=73 +lat_0=60 +lon_0=84 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +ellps=clrk66 +units=m +no_defs") doesn't have any impact on the plotted object. I also tested the simple example: xy = cbind(x = 2 * runif(100) - 1, y = 2 * runif(100) - 1) plot(SpatialPoints(xy, proj4string = CRS("+proj=longla...

Logging passwords on auth failure/dealing with botnets
...y to see what passwords they are trying (we've enabled auth_debug_passwords and set auth_verbose_passwords = plain). We can easily have log monitors pick up the blatant password attempts (123, 1234, 12345, 3.1415926, etc) and firewall them. The only way to see what they are doing is to tcpdump on the box. Almost 99% of the attacks are through SMTP/SASL attempts, using ...

nlminb with constraints failing on some platforms
I've noticed unstable behavior of nlminb on some Linux systems. The problem can be reproduced by compiling R-3.5.2 using gcc-8.2 and running the following snippet: f <- function(x) sum( log(diff(x)^2+.01) + (x[1]-1)^2 ) opt <- nlminb(rep(0, 10), f, lower=-1, upper=3) xhat <- rep(1, 10) abs( opt$objective - f(xhat) ) < 1e-4 ## Must be TRUE The example works perfectly when
