Busy Lamp Field SIP Phone
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good SIP phone with a busy lamp
field? I need my operator to be able to see extension status for about
20 extensions and transfer via HOLD + extension button. I've got a pair
of SNOM 360s with the sidecar, but I'm very disappointed with them. The
buttons are cheap and rubbery like a Sipura 841, the handset cord is
short and cheap, the audio quality is not good, the speaker is bad, the
button layout is too busy, and I've found it very hard to train my users
how to use.

Snom 360 NOTIFY syntax
I'm rolling out an installation with snom 360s in the near future.
Simple SOHO configuration, 3 FXOs hanging off a TDM400B, 4 snom 360s, a
snom 200, some variant of IAX softphone, and an IAXy or Sipura 2002. I
have the 360's set up to subscribe and notify for the line use lights,
which works like a charm for interoffice calling (betwe...

Snom 360 and firmware 4.0 problem
I have a pair of snom 360s at a customer and they were giving me Low Memory
errors. The distributor suggested updating the firmware. I did that, to the
one just below 4.0 (which wasn't released yet). One of the phones is still
giving the Low Memory error every 3-4 days. The other one had a broken
display that was jus...

Voted most stable and easy to use phone?
A while back i had asked about possible replacements for snom 360 phones
that were breaking and causing issues and we all discussed the problems
we had with the 360s and some suggestions were made but the new polycom
phones had just hit the market and not many people were able to comment
on them.
Basically i am looking to get some new phones and in the process get rid
of the countless number of problems i have had that has always been
caused by phones (snom...

OT: Snom 320, displaying text on the screen from *
...om 320s. I'd like to
have the message display regardless of what the phone is doing. I have
been trying SMS, or the sipsak method on the wiki but I have had no luck
thus far.
Does anybody have this working, and if so, can you give me a pointer? I
imagine this will work the same for the 360s as well.

Odd MOH problem...
...; quietmp3:/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3,-z
When I put a phone on hold, I get this in the console:
-- Started music on hold, class 'default', on SIP/pjf-51af
And yet, the MOH is still the same old song from before when I put a
caller on hold. Asterisk has restarted, the phones (snom 360s) don't
have their personalized SIP MOH settings set, the offending file has
been deleted from the filesystem, I can't find anything else that sets
the MOH to a different class, umm. Any ideas?
Out of curiousity, I tried setting up this:
exten => 6101,1,Answer
exten => 6101,2,M...

Regular expressions & large strings (PR#6617)
...ble related (although perhaps not a bug):
function(n) {
line <- paste(as.character(trunc(runif(n)*100)),collapse=" ")
system.time( rep <- gsub("[[:space:]]", "-", line) )
}
gives rather long times rising v sharply for big strings (eg
2.2s at n=2e4, 360s at n=2e5 on AMD 1.2GHz). Other languages
aren't so slow on this task (eg n=2e5: 0.4s ruby 1.8.1, and
5.2s python 2). Doubtless my extremely-quick-hack benchmarks
aren't fair, but the difference still seems rather big.

Asterisk 1.4 reliability problems
...e been experiencing some ongoing reliability problems with
Asterisk for quite some time, and I am trying to find out if anyone else
has experienced the same problems.
We are running asterisk 1.4.17~dfsg-2+b1 on Debian Lenny, with a Digium
PRI card, and have approximately 120 sip peers, mostly Snom 360s, with a
few Grandstream GXP2000 and a handful of Handytone 486 units.
The symptoms, when they occur, are as follows:
-The inability to receive incoming calls to our ISDN PRI (callers get a
busy tone), this starts off becoming intermittent but becomes permanent.
-Asterisk cli commands work once,...

Snom 360
I am having major problems with the first run of Snom 360s that rolled
out last month.
I am working with the US vendor and they in turn are working with Snom
but I wanted to see of anyone else was using these or having issues with
them.
Issues:
Speakerphone/Hands Free volume spikes up and down during a call. You
have to manually set the volume during eve...

Don't see my post
Hi Folks,
I have posted a couple of message to the list and do see them, even after waitin for long time (2 days). Can someone please point me to the rules for posting to this list? I think it had to do with the subject that I was looking for. I was looking for IAX terminiation service that can handle high volumes.
Thanks
John.

Good phone near $125
I was looking at the aastra 9133i, however I was informed that this phone is
no longer supported. What are good phones around the $100 - $125 price
point? (Need POE)

Hints no longer working in 1.4beta3 with Polycoms
Hi there,
Is there anyone else using hints and buddy watch on 1.4beta3 with
Polycoms? If so, can you give an indication of whether they are working
or not? We had hints working fine on 1.2.1, but they have stopped
working after upgrading our test server to 1.4beta3.
We've tried rebooting the phones, 'sip reload', deleting and recreating
the directory entries etc. A 'sip

Asterisk not hanging up
...usy), but
likewise the handset itself doesn't think it's in a call so it can't
retrieve the call or do a proper hangup.
I have no NAT in place and the handsets are all set to register/login
and "qualify=yes" set (which I had hoped would sort this...)
The handsets are SNOM 360s but I don't think this is directly relevant.
Asterisk is setup to use FreePBX dialplan (but again don't think this
is relevant?)
Can someone please suggest a way to ensure that the calls get hungup -
we had a 9 hour call earlier before someone noticed.... It's rare, but

RESOLVED - Snom 360 Multiple calls on hold help
...rmware 6.5.1 (Current stable release)
Asterisk 1.2.13
Call Completion: Off
Peer to Perr call completion: On (canreinvite=no is set in sip.conf for
each friend)
Call join on Xfer (2 calls): Off
Those settings seem to do the trick, I tested on Snom 320s with no
errors at all,
Im going to test on the 360s later today, but in theory its the same!
Attended Transfer: Receive a call, place that call on hold via the hold
button , then dial/press the extension you would like to consult with,
if you want to transfer the call, hit the "Xfer" key in the upper left
hand corner of the phone, it wi...

Managed Switches QoS to deal with network bottleneck
...approaches such as: D-Link DI-102 (Little Packet Priortizer with 2 RJ45 ports), or lower-end routers with QoS abilities like a WRT54GS? (I'm guessing these are more likely to cause a lot more packet loss than using managed switches)
We are planning on using either Polycom 501, or SNOM 320/360s. Does the switch built into the phone handle QoS for the attached computer?
Thank you for your input.

Snom firmwares suck
Most people seem quite positive about Snom phones, I cannot share this
opinion.
The displays are dying quite often, and firmware is buggy. I have tried
every firmware from 4.5 up to 5.x and 6.04 but keep having problems with
phones locking up or rebooting during an ongoing conversation.
REALLY annoying for a phone that is advertised / targeted as a business
class phone
