Re: Asterisk Compile Problem on Red Hat 9 solved
...one is a good simple SIP softphone. X-lite is also popular and has a few more features, but is a little more bloated (slower). You can find info about setting up these phones for use with Asterisk on the Wiki - http://www.voip-info.org/ http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20phone%20sjphone http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php? page=Asterisk%20phone%20xten%20xlite There are many other softphones listed here: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-VOIP+Phones#id919863 - Noah

Cisco 7960 and Asterisk...not working...
...it. If you have a CCO account you can find the latest load and config files here: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/sip-ip-phone7960 After getting the infrastructure in place the following link was all I needed to get my 7960 phones working properly: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk%20phone%20cisco%2079xx However, the 7960 does have some basic error logging. I'm not sitting in front of it right now so I can't tell you the key combinations. Hint: I went from version 3.2 like you to 7.2. However, as an interim step I had to go to 6.0 first. Thanks, Chad -----Original Messa...

Cisco 7960 firmware upgrade promblems
I have a second-hand 7960 which I am attempting to upgrade to use a SIP image. The phone currently has a firmware release which doesn't seem to be listed in Cisco docs - P003AM30. On reboot, it finds the tftp server and requests the firmware image listed in OX79XX.txt correctly, displaying "Upgrading Software" on the screen. It then continues to re-request the same image from the

Speex/ILBC buggy with * 1.0 and X-Lite/Pro?
I'm playing with codecs at the moment and have found some notices errors when x-lite/pro connects to asterisk with Speex or ILBC. Initially I was getting garbled sound, but after changing magic number for both codecs to 97 (as per http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk%20phone%20xten%20xlite and http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000918) I was able to get normal voice. BUT, Asterisk console (run with asterisk -vvvvvvc) started to show the following messages: 1. All codecs disabled in X-Lite/Pro except iLBC and Speex or only Speex: Sep 27 12:15:45 NOTIC...

X-Lite Softphone
Hey Everyone, I downloaded and installed the X-Lite softphone the other day (the lite version) and cannot seem to get it to work well. Don't get me wrong, it registers with my asterisk server and everything seems to work well, except the call quality really is horrible. I thought it may be the place I was trying it at (DSL) so I took it to the office and tried it right next to the asterisk

sip device discussion and reviews
Good evening. I just wanted to take a minute and review my experiences with some of the SIP devices out there on the market. I hope this post will help newbies or someone considering a certain device. I would appreciate any other input on either the devices I am "reviewing" or other devices that I didn't! These devices are deployed in our primary line and small PBX replacement

Aastra 480 i
Getting "no service" display on aastra 480i. Sip debug shows an "unathorized" blub when the aastra tries to register. Some reading indicates that 1.4 firmware wants aastra.cfg and mac.cfg in /tftpboot/. There are none. Anyone have basic config files? Or can point me to a good link? All links I have tried, that purport to have config files, are either dead or error out.
