samba - Aug 2016 - Configuring Point'n'Print automatic printer driver deployment not working in samba 4.4.5

Hi Samba ,

I have installed samba 4.4.5 on RHEL 7.2 (kernel ver. 
3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64).

i am unable to configure Point'n'Print automatic printer driver 
deployment. i have followed below link to configure:

Client are Windows 8.1 (x64) and Windows 10 (x64). We assume that samba 
supports only driver ver3 and ver4 support is not there, can some one 
help me what is the roadmap for this.

Thanks for the insight.

Let me explain the environment.

We have HP Laserjet Pro M202dw printer which we have configured on samba+CUPS,

First, we are trying to upload its driver (HP_LaserJet_Pro_M201-M202) via
windows print management console as explain in wiki
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configuring_Point%27n%27Print_automatic_printer_driver_deployment.
Its started copying driver into $print share but it was not showing option
"install trusted driver" . Then, we proceed further and after
completing upload driver we try to connect printer on windows client (win8.1 and
win10) its giving error "unable to connect printer error 0x000006d1".

Can you please help us get this issue sort it out.
Please let us know if any input is required from my side.

Hi, 

First, make sure u use a printer level 3 driver. 
I use the HP universal printer driver PCL 6.  ( 6.0.0 and 6.2.1 ) 

Can you open \\hostname.domain.tld ? try it. i assum that works. 
If you saw the driver uploading than is should be on the server.

The error : 0x000006d1  
For a windows 8 and 8.1 and 10. 
You can try this, create a regfile and this in it. 
-------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers]
"ForceCSREMFDespooling"=dword:00000000
-------------
Reboot te computer and try again. 

And last option, remove this key. 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers 


To test i suggest use the regkey (ForceCSREMFDespooling ) 

If that works setup the GPO and disable Client-Side Rendering. 
Found here : 
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers 

And change : Policy: Always render print jobs on the server 
And turn it off
( thats the regkey ) 

Let us know what worked for you.
