samba - Apr 2008 - duplicate name exists on network

Just created a new very simple samba server for testing purposes. When
adding a windows machine to the domain i keep getting duplicate name
exists on the network after i reboot the machine. This is the only
windows machine. Even after changing to a different name im still
getting the same error.

I'm running the samba server and the windows client both within VMware.
Different ip's and virtual machines etc. 

Is VMware the problem??
