I have changed the IP address of 8 windows 2003 servers that were connected to a samba domain controller. The problem is that when one of the machines try to resolve the netbios name of one of the other machines it still returns the old IP address. I have tried to use the lmhosts file to resolve the name but the system wants to use WINS over the local files. I cannot find a way to remove the netbios name from NMB or to have it update the name. Dave,
i hope you didn't use a AD on the W2003 servers. changing the IP address of 8 windows 2003 servers wil give lots of problems on the windows servers. i suggest, check your eventlogs for the servers did you run dns on linux or on windows, if windows, you are getting more in troubles... and give more detailed explanation. Hi, deleting /var/cache/samba/browse.dat and restarting samba should help.
