[Samba] Printing problem (high CPU and long delay) with Samba + Cups
Hi, I acually have a problem to print with Samba ans Cups (Samba 3, Cups and OpenLdap). In fact when i try to print from Windows XP Pro SP2 i've a very long delay (near 1/2 minutes) between the click on the "print" button and the display of the printer selection windows. During this delay the application seem the freeze and the CPU usage of the Samba Server climb and stay near to 95%. When the printer selection windows appear on the WinXP the CPU usage on the server go down to 0% !!! I try to see wich process use all of the CPU but i could not indentify nothing (all process shown with "top" or "ps" are near 0% ... while the global CPU usage is 95% !). Any idea ? Thanks in advance for yours answers. Regards -- Xavier

Crappy Windows XP spooler... :-( It's stuck in a loop I'll bet. Stop the client spooler. Remove all occurrences of the Devmode value in HCU\Printers. Restart the client spooler. cheers, jerry ====================================================================Alleviating the pain of Windows(tm) ------- http://www.samba.org GnuPG Key ----- http://www.plainjoe.org/gpg_public.asc "I never saved anything for the swim back."
