We have been using the same setup for years .. now we have introduced ADS
server ala windows 2003.. joining with samba 2 with Security = DOMAIN gives
an "unable to join domain" message.
So I have installed samba 3, now joining the domain is fine, and on linux
everything works perfectly, but on solaris it seems to ignore the "username
map" option.
Here is the config that we use:
[global]
workgroup = MYDOMAIN
netbios name = mysolarismachine
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
password server = mydomaincontroller
username map = /my/path/to/users.map
name resolve order = hosts wins lmhosts bcast
load printers = No
local master = No
wins server = 10.50.144.240
directory mask = 02755
log file = /var/adm/smb.log
Version:
smbd -V
Version 3.0.10
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
roddy

Gerald thanks for your help.. that's what I was looking for.. For anyone else with this issue: If the usernames in windows are the same as unix ie test1 = test1 it works fine. If the usernames differ ie test2 = myuser you must replace with test2 domain1\myuser and with multiple domains test2 = domain1\myuser domain2\myuser domain3\myuser etc.. to access under all logins. Thanks, for the quick response .. samba rocks! /roddy -----Original Message----- From: Gerald (Jerry) Carter [mailto:jerry@samba.org] Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2005 6:54 PM To: Rod Rioux Cc: 'samba@lists.samba.org' Subject: Re: [Samba] Username map broken on Solaris ?? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Rod Rioux wrote: | So I have installed samba 3, now joining the | domain is fine, and on linux | everything works perfectly, but on solaris it seems to | ignore the "username map" option.
