is your problem that you cannot "see"/ping your local lan while your
cisco-vpn is up?
If yes then its a cisco-vpn-client/xp routing issue and nothing to do
with samba. Easy solution...close vpn when you want to work locally.
Sorry I can't suggest anything more practical.
