[Samba] Winbind problem (NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND)
Due to the ever so lovely storms here on the US West Coast I had to shutdown my Samba v.2.2.4 server running Winbind this weekend, unfourtunatly once I powered back up the server I started getting this error from log.winbindd and could no longer access Samba from my Windows stations. [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 1] lib/debug.c:debug_message(256) INFO: Debug class all level = 3 (pid 1185 from pid 1185) [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 2] param/loadparm.c:do_section(3055) Processing section "[localsys]" [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 3] param/loadparm.c:lp_add_ipc(2023) adding IPC service IPC$ [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 3] param/loadparm.c:lp_add_ipc(2023) adding IPC service ADMIN$ [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 2] lib/interface.c:add_interface(81) added interface ip=192.168.1.12 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 2] lib/interface.c:add_interface(81) added interface ip=192.168.1.12 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 3] nsswitch/winbindd_cm.c:cm_get_dc_name(98) Could not look up dc's for domain MSI.NET [2002/12/16 09:58:09, 3] nsswitch/winbindd_cm.c:get_connection_from_cache(405) Could not open a connection to MSI.NET for \PIPE\lsarpc (NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND) [2002/12/16 09:58:19, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_util.c:init_domain_list(143) Retrying startup domain sid fetch for MSI.NET [2002/12/16 09:58:19, 3] nsswitch/winbindd_cm.c:cm_get_dc_name(98) Could not look up dc's for domain MSI.NET [2002/12/16 09:58:19, 3] nsswitch/winbindd_cm.c:get_connection_from_cache(405) Could not open a connection to MSI.NET for \PIPE\lsarpc (NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND) As a test I loaded a fresh copy of RedHat v.7.3 on a spare computer and followed these instructions http://us6.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#WINBIND with Samba v.2.2.7a source package but unfourtunatly I am getting the exact same errors in my log.winbindd file as on my v.2.2.4 server. I'm hoping it doesnt matter but M$ release a hotfix dealing with SMB (Q329170) ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=52eac216-a360-4e2d-9c6b-ad4d31c40ba2&DisplayLang=en ) and this weekend (actually Friday night) my Domain Controllers where updated with this hotfix right before I started having this problem with Winbind. My guess is yes but I am hoping someone can prove me wrong before I go trying to uninstall a hotfix. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions! ____________________________ Kenneth Hadley PC Network Specialist McCormick Selph Inc. khadley@mcselph.com -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed
