[Samba] 2.2.5, Sol 2.8, W2k - Printers...Status: Access Denied unable to connect - ??
hi When I highlight a printer icon in Win 2K, the Status bar shows Status: Access Denied, Unable to connect. It shows this for all samba printers. I can print a test page even though it shows access denied. Anyone know how to fix this? thanks. I am also having this exact problem, was just about to mail the list and ask about it. Exactly the same setup - Samba 2.2.5, Solaris 8, Win2k. can print test page also. Only thing I have to add is that all my HP printers are affected, but not my single solitary Epson printer. Samba gurus please help! -peter. hi When I highlight a printer icon in Win 2K, the Status bar shows Status: Access Denied, Unable to connect. It shows this for all samba printers. Is it fixed, or just avoided? I thougth that 'disable spoolss' meant that you disable the ability to automatically download printer drivers from Samba. Does anyone know if this is correct?? thanks -peter. To: Peter A Bryant/EngServ/QMR/Au@qdot cc: Subject: Re: 2.2.5, Sol 2.8, W2k - Printers...Status: Access Denied unable to connect - ?? FIXED...... I added disable spoolss = yes to my smb.conf and the problem went away. peter.a.bryant@mainroads.qld.gov.au wrote:> > >I am also having this exact problem, was just about to mail the list and ask >about it. >Exactly the same setup - Samba 2.2.5, Solaris 8, Win2k. > >can print test page also. > >Only thing I have to add is that all my HP printers are affected, but >not my single solitary Epson printer. > >Samba gurus please help! > >-peter. > > > >hi > >When I highlight a printer icon in Win 2K, the Status bar shows > Status: Access Denied, Unable to connect. > >It shows this for all samba printers. > >I can print a test page even though it shows access denied. > >Anyone know how to fix this? > >thanks. >Dennis > > > > >************************************************************ >Opinions contained in this e-mail do not necessarily reflect >the opinions of the Queensland Department of Main Roads, >Queensland Transport or National Transport Secretariat, or >endorsed organisations utilising the same infrastructure. >If you have received this electronic mail message in error, >please immediately notify the sender and delete the message >from your computer. >************************************************************ > > >+******+ This e-mail message is meant solely for the person or organisation to whom it is adressed. Hey Dennis thanks for the information. I really would like the ability to download drivers. Can't believe no-one else has this problem. thanks again -pete. Just avoided... I don't download drivers anyway....although I wish I could. BTW, the error message I descibed is in the smb.conf html doc under the description for "disable spoolss" I also got a reply from someone (don't have the reply handy) that mentioned changing the "use client driver" parameter setting although I left mine at its default. peter.a.bryant@mainroads.qld.gov.au wrote:> > >Is it fixed, or just avoided? >I thougth that 'disable spoolss' meant that you disable the ability >to automatically download printer drivers from Samba. > >Does anyone know if this is correct?? > >thanks > >-peter. > > > > > >To: Peter A Bryant/EngServ/QMR/Au@qdot >cc: >Subject: Re: 2.2.5, Sol 2.8, W2k - Printers...Status: Access Denied unable to > connect - ?? > > >FIXED...... > >I added disable spoolss = yes to my smb.conf > >and the problem went away. > >peter.a.bryant@mainroads.qld.gov.au wrote: > >> >>I am also having this exact problem, was just about to mail the list and ask >>about it. >>Exactly the same setup - Samba 2.2.5, Solaris 8, Win2k. >> >>can print test page also. >> >>Only thing I have to add is that all my HP printers are affected, but >>not my single solitary Epson printer. >> >>Samba gurus please help! >> >>-peter. >> >> >> >>hi >> >>When I highlight a printer icon in Win 2K, the Status bar shows >> Status: Access Denied, Unable to connect. >> >>It shows this for all samba printers. >> >>I can print a test page even though it shows access denied. >> >>Anyone know how to fix this? >> >>thanks. >>Dennis >> >> >> >> >>************************************************************ >>Opinions contained in this e-mail do not necessarily reflect >>the opinions of the Queensland Department of Main Roads, >>Queensland Transport or National Transport Secretariat, or >>endorsed organisations utilising the same infrastructure. >>If you have received this electronic mail message in error, >>please immediately notify the sender and delete the message >> >>from your computer. > >>************************************************************ >> >> >> > > >+******+ > >This e-mail message is meant solely for the person or organisation to whom itis>adressed.
