Hi anybody knows the difference between SMB that samba is based on and CIFS that microsoft owns. Windows 2k is based on CIFS right? what version and what is Samba 2.2.5 is based on ? SMB or CIFS thanks in advance

thanks CIFS is microsofts version of SMB right so whats samba server based on , SMB ? I reply to save those more qualified time, which can more usefully be spent developing SAMBA further.
