[Samba] Unable to join W2K Active Directory Domain
Hello all ... I'm trying to join a W2K domain and I'm getting the following error message: sun220:root# smbpasswd -j hern cli_net_req_chal: Error NT_STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME cli_nt_setup_creds: request challenge failed modify_trust_password: unable to setup the PDC credentials to machine xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(IP ommitted). Error was : NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. 2002/07/24 09:44:18 : change_trust_account_password: Failed to change password for domain HERN. Unable to join domain HERN. I'm talking to the Windows admin ... and he assures me that the machine was created with the same name as in my smb.conf, he did in fact check the "allow non-W2K machines to use this account" box ... I'm at a loss ... given the fact that I am not able to administer the W2K side of things (rather I'm not allowed to) ... is there anything relevant in the above error message which points to the problem. errol Errol Fouquet - UNIX SysAdmin
