IMPRINTS: mkprintpkg.pl unable to expand microsoft cab file
Jerry,
Perhaps you could help me with a problem building a Samba print package.
I've downloaded the drivers files I need from HP. I run the appropriate
mkprintpkg.pl command, but it dies with the following output:
[root@tux designjet]# /usr/local/imprints/bin/mkprintpkg.pl
--name="hp1050c" --version=1.00

2.2.0 Alpha2 and print drivers
I began playing around with 2.2.0a2 yesterday. The text docs have
instructions for setting up the "print$" share and installing drivers for
client download. This involves browsing to the samba share from a W2K or NT
server, accessing the "printers" folder, and right clicking on each printer
to install drivers.
I've managed to get W2K/NT and Win98/95 drivers

Samba 2.2 print driver setup
Jeremy,
Will there be any methodology available in 2.2 for installing print drivers
without browsing to the PRINT$ share from a W2K/NT box? I've got about 180
printers (at least 30 different models) shared and I'm encountering some
difficulties in installing drivers.
I'm using 2.2a2 in an environment with both W2K and W98 clients. One very
annoying inconsistency with W2K is making my

Samba 2.2 alpha3 released
Hi all,
I have just released the fourth alpha snapshot
of what will become Samba 2.2.0.
It's available from the usual ftp sites, in the alpha
directory as :
<ftp mirror>:/pub/samba/alpha/samba-2.2.0-alpha3.tar.gz
If people could test this snapshot out and provide feedback
about what is broken and let the lists know that would help.
The problem acting as a PDC for

Printer shares will not work - 2.0.7
First allow me to issue this disclaimer... The following problem is most
likely due to my own ignorance. Now on to the problem...
I'm setting up some printer shares that allow automatic driver installation
to Win 9x clients [printer$]. When we try to use these, the drivers install
beautifully, but we get the following error message when we try to print:

SAMBA and NT4 domain
I have replaced several NT servers with SAMBA on FreeBSD 4.7. The versions
of SAMBA vary from 2.2.7a to 2.2.8.
The SAMBA servers have been joined to the domain and show up as Windows NT
4.9 Server under Server Manager on NT. I am now down to two remaining NT4
servers that are domain controllers. I am experiencing two issues; NetBIOS
resolution seems to have gotten messed up and the logs on the NT

Creating html e-mails with embedded graphics
I am new to RoR and I have a new project for which I''d like to use it.
I have created a short list of the important functionality I need and it
seems like everything is covered except one thing:
I need to generate and send mime-encoded e-mails with a plain text part,
an HTML part with embedded graphics, and possibly an attachment.
In the old days (up until last week) I would have

Ideas...
Hello,
My company runs several Internet Cafes in Mexico, where bandwith is
limited and very costly. We use Linux to do NAT and firewall stuff and at
each location we
have about 30-40 stations. I''d like to know if anyone out there has any
suggestions about how to use CBQ to limit the bandwith at each station.
We only have a 128k circuit. The problem I am having is that since I have

problem with Samba in domain
Hello!
I have a samba fileserver (Debian Woody, Samba 2.2.3a) that I am
trying to join into an NT domain (smbpasswd -j ...); the command says that
it joined the domain successfully.
Then I setup security=domain, workgroup name etc. as outlined in the samba
howtos. However whenever I try to access a share on the Samba server I am
prompted for a password (even though I already logged in through

Question - Does Samba Recognize non-Primary Group Memberships?
I thought this was true, but In troubleshooting a permissions related
issue, I see evidence that it is not.
In my previous post, I was asking for assistance in trying to figure out
why I was unable to create files/folders over the network, but could so
so locally. My Active Directory account is a member of group that have
full control of a particular folder according to getfacl. I added that

Looking for a commercial version of an IAX2 Softphone
Hello All,
I have been looking for a commercial version of an IAX2 Softphone for
Windows but the ones I have came across (i.e. Iaxcomm, Iaxphone, Diax) do
not seem to have an updated version since April 2004 in some cases.
We looked at Firefly but we sent emails to Virbiage/Freshtel with questions
and could never get a response from them.
Has anyone got any recommendations for commercial

Will there be any support for iLBC in IAXClients soon?
Hello Folks,
I noticed that all of the IaxClient based softphones with exception of
Firefly only seem to have support for GSM but what about iLBC?
The quality is excellent with iLBC even on a dialup connection! Meanwhile
while the audio on GSM often sounds scratchy. Is anyone looking to
implement iLBC in an IaxClient based softphone soon?

Samba 3.0 Alpha 23 and windbindd
Hi folks,
I've been using the samba alpha releases for a bit now. I'm really
satisfied and grateful as it really helps out in our infrastructure. I do
however experience an issue that is really stumping me. The problem exists
in the mapping of winbind GID/UIDs to names. From time to time, the GID
will just change. For example, in our environment, the Group JCNTV/Domain

I am trying to connect to a third party's SIP based Hosted Billing service
that supports G729 as I have found it difficult to get hold of prepaid
billing solution for Asterisk. I was able to get an IAX2 connection working
fine with another provider but as I am unable to find a billing service that
supports IAX/IAX2, I need to connect to a hosted billing service using SIP

samba config help please
I have a rh8.0 server that I'm trying to configure. The PDC is an NT box
providing domain logins, and for the moment all I want Samba to do is
provide storage. I would like for all the users to be able to access
individual private shares acording to their respective accounts, and one
large share for common usage. Presently, all of the w2k/xpPro boxes can both
see the shares and map them. The
