samba - Jul 2002 - Use smbmount as a user

I am trying to use smbmount/smbumount as a user and not as root and the 
command smbmount returns me 

smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (500,500)
smbmnt failed: 1

What can I do?

What the message says and make smbmnt be set-user id root.
(Hint: man chmod)
