Hey all, I've got a few WinXP workstations logging into a 2.2.4pre (CVS from April 30th, around 8 p.m. PDT) PDC, and I'm having some sort of odd problem with roaming profiles. The XP workstations can successfully (it seems) retrieve and save thier profiles to the samba box; however, if I log off a user, say "gary", from one workstation, and travel to the next one, and log in as "gary" there, there are some missing items... like a notepad document that I had saved to the desktop on the previous workstation. Also (and this one is really weird), my desktop wallpaper doesn't travel to the new workstation... instead, I get a blank blue background, and a notepad document pops up that contains some "shell32.dll" command. However, if I look at my display properties, the right desktop wallpaper is highlighted. Very strange indeeed. Also, I'd like to be able to sync the workstation times to the server, since I understand out of sync workstation times may cause roaming profile problems. However, since a normal samba domain user isn't an Administrator, they don't have rights to change the time with "net time //sambaserver /set /yes". How do I get this to work? Thanks for any insight that anyone can provide. Gary
I'm using Outlook Express wich keeps mail in directory "local settings" but my samba doesn't store this directory on the server. Also I there are some another settings wich I'd like to be copied. Is it possible to make this working properly, or I should change my e-mail program?? PS. Sorry for my english
I am using samba 2.2.5 as PDC on Redhat 7.3 for a school server and Windows 2000 SP2 on workstations. I do not have any special settings for roaming profiles. Just loggin the W2Ks into domain. When the user logs into a computer and logs out, than his profile is saved on server, also with Outlook Express settings. I have also set in Outlook Express for a user to store the e-mails in his document directory. Than he has all e-mail on each computer, he will log in. Example: User tnx has his e-mails stored in: c:\Documents and Settings\tnx\Documents\mail\ J.K.> -----Original Message----- > From: Trevor Fraser [mailto:trevor@systematic.co.za] > Sent: Thursday, August 29, 2002 1:45 PM > To: Piotr Ha?as > Cc: samba@lists.samba.org > Subject: Re: [Samba] roaming profiles problem > > > Hi Piotr. > > I've been of line for a while. > > I have been looking for some ideas or ways to get this right, > but I haven't > found any. Files mayby in use" I'm just wonder wheather it is Windows problem or Samba configure problem? Could anybody can help me? Cheers, Richard

If you could test this branch I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Jeremy.
