One of my users complained that his Win2kSP2 complains that his password Is going to expire in 8 days. A while ago we changed from Win2k domain to a Samba 2.2.3a controlled domain. How do I disable the password expiration? I read the man pages and searched Google but couldn't find any hints about the issue. It almos seems like this expiration thing should not be happening at all...? Regards, Peter
I think you need to replace the X in the smbpasswd file for the user with a space. Sorry my mistake, everyone should have the X set so that the password expiry does not happen. If you unset the X then this means the expiry is set. Strange thing is that I've got it set also, but I've never been asked to change a password? Regards, Peter
Hello ! I need this function, to prompt for a password because of expiration, to the user... I have the "X" flag , but where can I set the expiration time, because I think if there is the LCT then it has some meaning... I'm envy on you :)) Best Regards ! Viktor Posta
Kristyan, Could you include an example of the line that should have an X in it? An example of a user account in my smbpasswd file looks like this: user1:534:A1A5B0874448159FAAD3B435B51404EE:6ABAE7DCC640DE72D2505DD883373F24:[U ]:LCT-3CD7CF34 I am having the same issue as these guys where the password will expire (seemingly daily) and we have to manually reset it. However, it's not being reported by all of our users, just a select few. FYI, we run Redhat 7.2, krnl 2.4.18 w/bestbits.at ACL/EA patches. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Alan B.
