[Vasileios Zografos <vzograf@hotmail.com>]> I run smbd and nmbd as daemons from the /etc/services and > /etc/inetd.conf so they run from inetd. This is not recommended. nmbd has known issues running from inetd. By far the best thing is just to run it with `-D'. (smbd, on the other hand, can run under inetd with no trouble, but if you're writing a boot script for the one you may as well include both.) Peter
Hello people.... Ok I am having a strange problem with samba and more specificaly the nmb daemon. I run smbd and nmbd as daemons from the /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf so they run from inetd. But when I check the status with SWAT it tells me that nmbd is not running. So I have to issue the command nmbd -D manualy. Why? my setting on /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf are exactly like the smb-HOW TO says they should be. Yet only smmbd runs correctly.... Why? Can anyone help?
