The new Linux IGD support
Hello Tom, I tried the new UPnP support of shorewall, olny to stumble upon a LinuxIGD bug. Specificaly, the UPnP chain is read as UPn from the upnpd.conf . I double checked it, there some bug in the upnpd, it doesn''t process 4 lettered names correctly. Could you change this chains'' name to something a little longer? -- Costas Cavouracis <cca@freemail.gr> My PGP keys:

freeBSD User provider
Hello, from the doc it seems that the User type has a provider of ''pw'' for FreeBSD. It seems the provider does not allow dupelicate, does not allow to manage the homedir and to manage password. in the code the duplicate uid is set so it seems the doc is out of date on this :) - manage home directory, i don''t really understand what is that parameter. Can I have oplocks enabled without problems?
Hi, I used to have a win NT to serve small office networks comprised of windows clients. During the last months I have made a considerable effort to learn enough about linux in order to explore it's capabilities for that application. In the area of file & print sharing samba still looks as the best choice. I am using it in my office for some weeks now and I am quite happy with it. Yet I

How to use different SASL mechanisms for ssl connections
Hi I would like to set different SASL mechanisms for users trying to login (POP3/IMAP/Managesieve) on encrypted channel, than for those on unencrypted connection. Specificaly: For users on unencrypted channel, i need to allow login with CRAM-MD5 (to improve security - I have users who require unencrypted connection but i cant let tem use PLAIN login, of course). strange nmbd behaviour..............
Hello people.... Ok I am having a strange problem with samba and more specificaly the nmb daemon. I run smbd and nmbd as daemons from the /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf so they run from inetd. But when I check the status with SWAT it tells me that nmbd is not running. So I have to issue the command nmbd -D manualy. Why? my setting on /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf are exactly like the

mounting as a regular user
Hi, This may not be a Samba specific issue I am having but it came up when working with samba shares specificaly so I thought I would ask here first. Please feel free to redirect me to more appropriate sites if needed. I am running Samba version 3.0.4 on Slackware 10. I am running into a problem with being able to allow a normal non-root user to either mount samba shares or regular disk

Livelock induced failure in blktap2.
We''ve been working on getting XEN 4.1.2 validated for internal use and have run into what appears to be a livelock induced failure in properly freeing a blktap2 device. We ported the blktap2 driver from Dan Stodden''s GIT tree into 3.2.x which is a reasonably straight forward process. We are also running the toolchain with a patch which Ian Campbell posted in order to get xl to

yum quit working in CentOS 5.4 x86_64
Have been running 5.4 x86_64 for a couple of months now. Every once in a while, I would get a notice that updates were available. It appears that about 3 weeks ago, yum stopped notifying me of updates. Over that time, I've manually done a 'yum update' from a command line, with an output that there are no updates. I know this cannot be true, because I watch the 'centOS-announce

[LLVMdev] Crash in libunwind
This may be bogus, but do you have: llvm::JITExceptionHandling = true; for the code that generates the dynamic code? It has been a while, but I don't recall what will happen when dynamic code, generated with jit exception handling turned off, invokes libraries which in turn try to unwind the stack via the libunwind api. However given that you say the code works with 2.8, my concern

Multiple EM connections on separate threads
Hi EM Gurus, I''m hoping someone can shed some light on the following... I''m using a 3rd party (legacy) server that can accept up to 8 simultaneous connections on one port. I''ve been able to make multiple connections to this server from within one call to EventMachine::run {...}. Specificaly, I can access each connection separately using: em_thread = Thread.new do
