Have you run smbclient manually? You will be able to narrow down if it is SAMBA or AMANDA. And did you patch SAMBA with the amanda patch to the SAMBA distribution (And I mean a patch to SAMBA not to AMANDA) It is at the Web site at umd. You need this patch or no estimate will be found. If your drive is greater that 2Gig then you are going to run into problems when sendsize returns the size of the backup. If you run smbclient to the machine and do a recursive dir and the returned amount is negative, then this is your problem. I have several machines with 4 Gig drives and am currently working on a patch. Patching the samba client wasn't that hard, but so far it is only allowing me to back up 2^32 bytes. After this I have found that another program is complaining about a negative size as well. It seems that there needs to be a better way of reporting dump size. (Greater capacity). I will post my results in a few days. But since I am new to patching files and making diffs, It may take me longer and I may need some help. Thanks, Christopher D. I run smbclient manually to the Windows NT server to the depot share (//thor/depot) and it connects properly. When I try to back up, I get no estimate errors. I have patches samba1.9.16p11 with the 1.9.16p2 patch that adds estimates. I am using Amanda 2.3.0.5 which has the smb support and which I've configured with the --with-smbclient option. -----Original Message----- From: Ian Crakanthorp <ian@atom.ansto.gov.au> To: ernie_oporto <ernie_oporto>; oliva@dcc.unicamp.br <oliva@dcc.unicamp.br> Cc: amanda-users@cs.umd.edu <amanda-users@cs.umd.edu>; samba@arvidsjaur.anu.edu.au <samba@arvidsjaur.anu.edu.au> Date: Saturday, July 26, 1997 3:56 AM Subject: Re: Amanda 2.3.0.5-Samba 1.9.16p11 PC backups...>Have you run smbclient manually?
