DO NOT REPLY [Bug 6604] New: [manpage] improve documentation of option --block-size=BLOCKSIZE
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6604 Summary: [manpage] improve documentation of option --block- size=BLOCKSIZE Product: rsync Version: 3.0.6 Platform: Other OS/Version: Windows XP Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: core AssignedTo: wayned at samba.org ReportedBy: jari.aalto at cante.net QAContact: rsync-qa at samba.org Cf Debian bug: http://bugs.debian.org/539816 Package: rsync Version: 3.0.6-1 Severity: wishlist Manual page reads: -B, --block-size=BLOCKSIZE This forces the block size used in rsync?s delta-transfer algorithm to a fixed value. It is normally selected based on the size of each file being updated. See the technical report for details. However, according to comments in the Net, this can drastically improve rsync performance on fast networks (1Gb etc). Please include suggestions and more explanation how would bigger block sizes have impact on improving the performance of backups. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.samba.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact.
