Rails - Mar 2008 - ActionMailer and Sender validation frameworks ( DKIM or SPF )

What''s the directors'' take on ading DKIM or SPF functionality
into
ActionMailer.  Is that a function that is better addressed via a
plugin, or would an extension or a monkeypatch of this class be an
appropriate avenue of pursuit?
