I have project that needs to look up flight information, hotel information, etc. Any idea where I can find some web services to do this, or any kind of solution to implement into rails? I don''t see why they wouldn''t want to dispurse this information since it has to be purchased through them. Do you have any more information on Sabre and what not or any other solution? thanks for your help. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Some of the travel resellers have Web APIs... I''m trying to remember which ones... Travelocity might be one... Hotels.com another. They have strict rules on how they can be used though - no price comparisons with other tools in most cases.> From: Ben Johnson <rails-mailing-list-ARtvInVfO7ksV2N9l4h3zg@public.gmane.org> > Reply-To: <rubyonrails-talk-/JYPxA39Uh5TLH3MbocFFw@public.gmane.org> > Date: Fri, 6 Oct 2006 07:16:51 +0200 > To: <rubyonrails-talk-/JYPxA39Uh5TLH3MbocFFw@public.gmane.org> > Subject: [Rails] Re: Expedia / Travelocity web services? > > > snacktime wrote: >> On 10/5/06, Ben Johnson <rails-mailing-list-ARtvInVfO7ksV2N9l4h3zg@public.gmane.org> wrote: >>> >>> I have project that needs to look up flight information, hotel >>> information, etc. Any idea where I can find some web services to do >>> this, or any kind of solution to implement into rails? >>> >> >> As far as I know, Sabre is the system almost everyone uses, and I >> haven''t heard of them allowing anyone to create a web api just anyone >> could access. hi i dont know about hotel information but about flight info, i know there is no web services API avalaible the companies who provide this kind of information have made deals with airlines and keep the data. it s the kind of business where no new startups can enter - some kind of cartel. they make a living by selling data to travel agencies and websites. -- Heri R. http://sprinj.com --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Ben, I''m the Director of Architecture at Hotels.com. We provide complete Web Services for air/car/hotel browsing and purchase via our Interactive Affiliates Network (http://www.ian.com). You not only have access to our entire travel inventory, but also earn a commission on each sale you make. I spoke on these services at last year''s JavaOne and as far as I know, we are the only company that is providing this capability. Check it out, I think it is exactly what you are looking for, and more. I''m willing to discuss further with you directly, but I''m not sure how to exchange personal contact information without putting it out there for the world to see. Maybe there is a way via Google Groups?
