The first administrative console screencast is now available at: http://screencasts.visualjquery.com/demo1/ I''ve posted a bunch about the Admin Console, but it''s essentially an automated scaffold that works as an engine. The screencast is a quick overview of the minor things you''ll need to do in models, environment.rb, and others, as well as ::drumroll:: a demo of the console in action. Find out more about the Admin Console at http://trac.visualjquery.com/admin_console -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
I love video demos. Yehuda, that looks really good (the admin console, not just the demo). Cheers Nic -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
Thanks. The demo is a bit rough around the edges. I''m still learning the ropes. I''ll have another demo within the next week. I also plan to do demos to show how the admin console handles STI, and some more complicated configuration options. I wrote the engine for a real-life application, so it already does a lot of things you probably wouldn''t think of if you wrote it as an exercise. -- Yehuda Dr Nic wrote:> I love video demos. > > Yehuda, that looks really good (the admin console, not just the demo). > > Cheers > Nic-- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
Does it work with Dr Nic''s Magic Models (http://drnicwilliams.com/2006/08/07/ann-dr-nics-magic-models/), or do I need to provide a way to generate the associations for all classes/tables first? Cheers Nic -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
It reflects on associations (via reflect_on_association and reflect_on_all_associations), so MM would need to set up the macros in advance in order for the admin console to make use of them. I plan to do a screencast showing how the Admin Console works with MM sometime soon. -- Yehuda Dr Nic wrote:> > Does it work with Dr Nic''s Magic Models > (http://drnicwilliams.com/2006/08/07/ann-dr-nics-magic-models/), or do I > need to provide a way to generate the associations for all > classes/tables first? > > Cheers > Nic-- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
Biggest thing for me is the resolution. Would make it much better to drop it down to at least 1024 if it wasn''t already, and if it was, then 800x600. I had to really focus on the screencast to see the super small type in the files and such. Also, would be excellent to not so much see what is actually happening with the models linking directly to the schema, but to just hear a bit more about the explaination of what is really going on. I had to make a few assumptions when you jumped into the demo of the interface about how the models were handled and such. -NSHB On 8/12/06, Yehuda Katz <wycats@gmail.com> wrote:> > Thanks.
