Position: Web Software Engineer



Location: Indianapolis, IN



Job Description:

Work with a new team to develop advanced web applications and  
integrate them with indystar.com.  The ideal candidate will show  
attention to detail and pride in maintaining an excellent standard of  
quality.



Environment:  Linux/Solaris/Mac OS X



Required skills:

A solid understanding of the UNIX environment
A demonstrated ability to develop large Object Oriented projects
Advanced programming ability in an Object Oriented language (such as  
Ruby, Java, C++, Smalltalk)
Ability to develop web applications (in any language)
Well versed in project tracking and version control techniques
Administration of Apache and MySQL on Linux and Solaris servers
Must be capable of working with designers and customers to meet  
project goals.
Proven teamwork, customer service, initiative, and leadership skills.
Must be able to meet deadlines.
Must have effective communication skills.


Desired Skills:

Ruby/Rails experience is highly desired
PHP and/or Perl experience
Knowledge of MVC coding practices
Familiarity with AJAX concepts
Familiarity with Mac OS X


Education Requirements:

Bachelor?s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science,  
Management Information Systems, or demonstrated equivalent experience  
desired.
