Voxura, an internet video sharing startup, is looking for a skilled and
motivated Web User Interface Developer to work with us in building our video
sharing products and features. You will work with a strong, creative team
building features used by people every day.
Our team is looking for a Web User Interface Developer with in-depth
knowledge of web usability and demonstrated experience in designing and
developing rich user interfaces for database-driven web sites. The
successful candidate will be asked to design and implement these rich user
interfaces across the Voxura platform using their thorough knowledge of
AJAX, RUBY, PHP, MYSQL, JavaScript, CSS and HTML/DHTML.
Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be a hard worker, with a willingness
to learn and will understand the importance of user experience and brand
consistency.The candidate must thrive in a fast paced, creative, dynamic
team-oriented startup environment. We are currently seeking either a
freelance or part-time Web User Interface Developer. We are looking for an
individual who is possibly willing to grow into a full time position, so
this could be a college student. An online portfolio of work is required for
consideration.
The Job:
* Design, implement and maintain user interfaces using HTML, CSS and
JavaScript
* Work closely with the Web Design team to deliver an excellent user
experience for our users
* Provide guidance and coaching on user-focused design principles to
other members of the Web Design and Product Development teams
Required Experience and Skills:
* Expert understanding of JavaScript and the DOM, and how to traverse
and program them using procedural methods and events
* Extensive understanding and experience in hand coding HTML/XHTML and
Cascading Style Sheets, and familiarity with web standards and CSS-driven
layouts
* Solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues, and
knowledgeable in development tradeoffs between speed, design, flexibility,
and the underlying page architecture
* Significant experience designing and developing user-centric web sites
in a professional software development environment
* Experience with AJAX web development techniques
* Ability to self-manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet
deadlines
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with clients and
coworkers
* High energy, a helpful attitude and self-motivation
* Creative problem solving skills
* Experience with AJAX frameworks, including Ruby on Rails and Flash
Programming
* Familiarity with blogging and content management
* Solid understanding of video uploading/downloading, codecs, and
streaming
