GSM cleanup (pops, clicks and static)
I have a bunch of sounds that I've converted into gsm from (Indexed NMS) vox
files. There's only a single utility that I've found that can read and
convert vox files. My conversion process is to use this utility to convert
the index vox file in to a series of wave files and then use sox to convert
the wave files to gsm files. Over all this works really well, the problem is
that about

Is there a fast way to do several hundred thousand ANOVA tests?
Dear R users,
I have a matrix a and a classification vector b such that
> str(a)
num [1:50, 1:800000]
and
> str(b)
Factor w/ 3 levels "cond1","cond2","cond3"
I'd like to do an anova on all 800000 columns and record the F statistic for
each test; I currently do this using
f.stat.vec <- numeric(length(a[1,])
for (i in 1:length(a[1,]) {
f.test.frame

ADPCM 4-bit, 6 kHz
I found some posts regarding this issue dating of September 2003, but no
real answer.
The ADPCM format supported by Asterisk (the .vox files) is 4-bit, 8 kHz. I
need 4-bit, 6 kHz, which is also a widespread Dialogic format, to help
migration.
Is there an existing format/codec for this? If not, can I make myself a
shared object in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules? Is this easy??? :-(
Thanks,
Yves

testing for nil numeric value in find
In the agile/rails tutorial book the following construct is added
to products.rb.
def self.salable_items
find( :all,
:conditions => "date_available <= now()",
:order => "date_available desc")
end
Now, I wish to extend :conditions => to exclude products that have
a nil value for the price. I have tried different syntax

while this does not?

setGeneric?
In the last few days I've received couple of messages pointing out that our SparseM
package fails to install on the patched version of 1.7.0. Laurent Gaultier kindly
suggested that replacing:
setGeneric("as.matrix.csr")
by
setGeneric("as.matrix.csr", function(x, nrow, ncol, eps) standardGeneric("as.matrix.csr"))
was sufficient to fix the problem.

vignette checking woes
Thierry,
I have this:
if (require(MatrixModels) && require(Matrix)) {
X <- model.Matrix(Terms, m, contrasts, sparse = TRUE)
in my function rqss() I've tried variants of requireNamespace too without success.
If I understand properly model.Matrix is from MatrixModels but it calls
sparse.model.matrix which is part of Matrix, and it is the latter function that I'm

Problem with SSHD update.
This morning I applied the 13 or so new updates to my servers. On
one of them the ssh service and clients stopped working immediately
after the update. I restarted the server in anticipation that there
might be some instability introduced by updating on a system with
active ssh connections. However, this has not cleared the problem.
The packages in question are:

Dear All,
I'm trying to track down a problem with my quantreg package reported by a user doing censored quantile regression.
When he runs the test4.R file attached below (which reads the csv file also attached) on his windows machine he gets
an error like this:

[LLVMdev] another minor problem with the ocaml binding
everyone--
I notice that Llvm.llvm_handle_to_type is actually defined to create a type handle from a type, rather than vice versa as its name would imply. Should I send a patch to change the name of the function to reflect its type better, or should I just lump it?

tournaments to dendrograms
Does anyone have (good) experience converting tables of tournament
results into dendrogram-like graphics? Tables, for example, like this:
read.table(url("http://www.econ.uiuc.edu/~roger/research/ncaa/NCAA.d"))
Any pointers appreciated. RK

CentOS-5 Need Help With Serial Ports
I have been struggling with setting up two serial ports on an HP/Compaq
D512S (Intel P4) under CentOS-5. I am not at all sure why these things
were not auto-configured when I initially installed the CentOS system from
CDs but they were not.
I have found various resources on the web and from them uncovered the
setserial utility. What I need from somebody is guidance on how to use
this utility to

A short time ago a message on this list referred to an OSS project called
ledgersmb. I am having a deal of difficulty getting this installed and as the
web page at www.ledgersmb.org yields a "page not found" error and the
ledger-smb-users mailing list seems very lightly used I wonder if someone here
could help me out?
I have ploughed through all of the perl dependencies for ledgersmb

rpm spec files for ruby
I am trying to package ruby-1.8.6 for CentOS-4.5 and I would like to take
a look at the spec files used for ruby-1.8.1 that ships with CentOS. Is
there any place that I can see these or could someone do me the kindness
of sending them to me?
I am also confused as to how one breaks out the component parts of a build
into separate rpm packages. The source distribution from ruby-lang.org
