Hello all, I work for a company located in Madison, WI and we''re looking at replacing a pre-Struts J2EE ecommerce app with Rails. ''ve been using Rails with pleasure for the last year on several supporting applications, and I have everyone else convinced that it''s at least worth investigating. The developer team has a few experienced Java developers who are intrigued by the productivity claims, but have reservations. We''d love to get together with folks who are doing Rails locally, to chat about the ups and downs of using Rails as a framework and how it compares with the latest Java dev patterns. If anybody in the area has any interest in an informal evening out, perhaps leading to a Ruby and/or Rails user group in the Madison, WI area, please email me. Anyone with significant, modestly complex ecommerce Rails dev experience, let me know, too--we may be looking to contract with a mentor or architect in the near future. Hi all, I just put out a call for interest in this a few days ago too. I am an instructor at the Madison Area Technical College and I have permission to host a Rails users group. I already have a list of around 10 people who are interested and we are organizing as we speak. If we hold meetings here at MATC we can have free parking and a nice room with a good data projector. I propose we combined our efforts. (We will have to come up with a good and and I''m proposing "Mad Railers".) -Eric On 12/20/05, Justin Beck <Justin.Beck-RMrNTcX5sj8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > Jonathan, > > My name is Justin Beck, I live in Madison. Why, so you did! Sorry I missed your original post. There must be some sort of astrological Rails convergence happening here in Madison... Please add me to whatever list of names you have. Dion Almaer (of ajaxian.com) is apparently a Madisonian as well, if you didn''t know, and expressed interest off the list. I can forward his contact info to you or vice versa if you don''t already have it. Looking forward to meeting fellow railers here in Madison!
