All, I''ve been working for a local travel company here in Las Vegas for some time, putting together a Rails application to handle convention and tour booking. Most of the system is complete, but due to the fact I''m expecting the birth of my first child here in a couple of weeks (and am working far more hours at my primary job), the company (at my urging) is looking to hire one/two additional Rails developers to finish up the system. I''ll be staying on to provide support, answer questions, and/or help with project management. Work remaining involves checking tour/convention room availability, booking, and handling financial details. I''ve been continually impressed with the company''s willingness to embrace Rails/Ruby-- back when it was at 0.7, no less. If anyone is interested in the project, please contact Steve Tokita <steve-NSNW17jqGEE@public.gmane.org>, and provide him with a short resume/portfolio. Please CC me as well. Regards, Bruce Williams
Just to clarify-- you do *not* have to be located in the Las Vegas area. I know [from experience] there are none/few Rails developers (or Ruby, for that matter) here in the Las Vegas valley. Regards, Bruce PS. Anyone reading this who *is* a Rails/Ruby developer in the LV area, drop me a line-- it''s about time. Hehehe... With the weather we''ve been experiencing these past few days (35-40C / 95-105F) it certainly feels like Vegas... Oh, how I''d like to be there right now. It''s a nice dry heat, as opposed to this Torontonian humid trap! :) On 7/14/05, Curt Hibbs <curt-fk6st7iWb8MAvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> Bruce Williams wrote: > > Just to clarify-- you do *not* have to be located in the Las Vegas > > area. I''m in London, Ontario (the copycat city). I share your pain. I can''t wait for my move to Vancouver in a little over a month. -Simon Frank Manno wrote:> Hehehe... I had great hopes! I don''t know what went wrong, but it obviously never happened. Curt
Curt, But it''s a "dry heat." And that makes it *oh* so much more bearable. ;-) Bruce On 7/14/05, Curt Hibbs <curt-fk6st7iWb8MAvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> Bruce Williams wrote: > > Just to clarify-- you do *not* have to be located in the Las Vegas > > area. I''ve often wondered if some anyone has ever been confused coming across the border. Speed limit: 100. - Woooohoooo! Speed limit: 60. - well it is a school zone, it''s the least I can do. ;) -sw Curt Hibbs wrote:> Ben Robison wrote: > >> Curt Hibbs wrote: >> >> But for us Yankees it sound hotter if you leave it in Farenheit >> :-) I wonder if we will ever decide to switch to the metric >> system and measure things in consistently intelligent ways. > > > I remember when I was in high school (probably somewhere around 1970), > congress passed a bill that was supposed to gradually switch the US to > the metric system over the next 10 years. The US officially adopted the metric system in 1893. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_system_in_the_United_States
