R help - Dec 2011 - How to stop popping up messages when R starts?

Dear all, is there any way to stop popping up the start-up messages when I
start a new R console window? I want a clean window for my work which
obviously can be done by pressing 'cont+l'. However I want R should be
able
to do it automatically, as soon as it starts.

Use the -q option when calling R.
