Which is better is a matter of opinion:
Try:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
if it doesnt work, update/add repos.
Also, miss google knows this;
lastly: not really a geRmaine topic for the R-list.
