Headless operations
Hi Folks, I'm interested in "headless" installation. If I use GRUB, then I provide arguments to the kernel of things like "headless vnc vncpassword=whoopie ip=dhcp" GRUB passes this on to ISOLinux, which manages the CD and subsequently the installation. Shouldn't I be able to do exactly the same thing with EXTLinu...

Somewhat OT: OpenOffice.org Headless issues as non-root user
Hi, I've installed recently OpenOffice.org 3.1 on Centos 5.3. I use OOo in headless mode. I have no problem when running as root, but I'd prefer run it as non-root user (oooserver user). When I run the script in debug mode this is the output: sh -x /tmp/ooo-headless-nonroot start + . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions ++ TEXTDOMAIN=initscripts ++ umask 022 ++ PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:...

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: don't attempt to schedule hpd_work on headless cards
If the card doesn't have display hardware, hpd_work and hpd_lock are left uninitialized which causes BUG when attempting to schedule hpd_work on runtime PM resume. Fix it by adding headless flag to DRM and skip any hpd if it's set. Fixes: ae1aadb1eb8d ("nouveau: don't fail driver load if no display hw present.") Headless WINE (nulldrv, winetty)
I'm running a headless Linux installation (FC11) on Amazon EC2 and need to run some console-based (no window) 32-bit DOS executables... I've been running this fine for the past couple years on another installation (FC10) with v1.1.23, by setting the "TERM" environment variable to "xterm" and I be...

VirtualBox headless
Hello, I'm trying to use the VirtualBox/vbox driver together with libvirt 0.8.1 on a Ubuntu Lucid Machine, VirtualBox Release 3.1. The goal is to run the virtual machines headless and to connect using RDP. When starting a virtual domain using 'virsh start <domainname>' the GUI of VirtualBox will pop up and I see no option to prevent this. If X is not running, the virsh command will terminate with 'unknown failure'. I've found some hints on inclusi...

Using LightDM as a headless XDMCP server without physical graphics card
...i, I'm currently testing the XDMCP functionality of LightDM which seems to work flawless, however, there is one issue which I cannot resolve: The machine I am using for my setup is a dedicated machine running some VM's, these VM's don't have any graphics card associated and run headless and the only form of command is via a web interface or SSH. LightDM seems to use the /dev/fb0 device as graphics card, but that does not exists on a VM. My queston is, how can I use LightDM to run as a headless XDMCP server without the need of a physical present graphics card? The configuration...

OT: headless fanless silent 2 HDs micro server/pc...
Hey, A bit out of topic but I am looking for a micro server/pc if anyone knows a descent one... I found many nice NAS but I would like to have full access to the OS (install CentOS, etc). Dream one would be - Very quiet (fanless) since it will sit in my bedroom. - Headless - Small. - 2/3 HDs (2.5" are ok) for RAID1 (hardware RAID would be nice, and with BBC even more).- 1 or 2 GB NICs - USB3 or ESATA would be nice... - Price would not be much of a problem (maybe no more than $1000 though). Random thoughts: - a shuttle PC with 2 HDs and a real RAID card (if it...
