R help - May 2010 - need help to retrieve the previous commands by using ↑ and ↓ keys.

It would help to know what OS you use and how do you use R (R GUI,
terminal, etc.).

There might be an issue with your terminal. Did you try with xterm?
Here accessing history items with R running in an xterm works just
fine.
