I recently came across a flyer from REvolution Computing, and I wanted to ask if this is R going private? Tony. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
To the best of my knowledge no R is not going private. Search the archives and you will gain insight into this matter. The other, that I know of, is RStat: http://www.random-technologies-llc.com/ As was recently discussed in a lengthy thread, this is entirely permitted under the terms of the GPL. HTH, Marc Schwartz

As I understand it, what they intend to do is mainly to provide solutions involving nontrivial installations of R, e.g. on clusters and parallel machines, as well as maintenance of same. -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard ?ster Farimagsgade 5, Entr.B c/ /'_ --- Dept. of Biostatistics PO Box 2099, 1014 Cph. However, the GPL is compatible with commercial use and enhancement, and that's what REvolution is doing. Duncan Murdoch
One thing I'll say: it's going to be much easier to Google for references to "Rstat" than to "R" . I've been tempted to start a movement to rename "R" something like "Ratistics" (or "RatStatPack" :-) ) just so it's locatable via search engines. That said, does anyone have any techniques for Googling for info on some particular R functionality? I've had some luck with the term "R-help" or "R-sig" but that leaves out an awful lot of websites.
