Dear R users, A new version (1.4-0) of the Rcmdr package (providing a basic-statistics graphical user interface to R) is now on CRAN. This is the annual update of the package (apart from bug-fixes and minor changes). Updated Italian and Russian translations are included with the package (courtesy, respectively, of Stefano Calza and Alexey Shipunov); I'll submit minor updates as other translations arrive. The new version of the Rcmdr package has a number of new facilities (see the CHANGES file installed with the package), the most important of which is probably the ability of plug-in packages to remove (as well as add to) the Rcmdr menus. This should permit individuals to use the Rcmdr infrastructure to create GUIs for specialized applications. As usual, comments, suggestions, and bug-reports are welcome.
