R help - Jul 2008 - search with help.start

Search is not working after starting the help facility using the 
help.start function.  The firefox browser says the applet has started, 
but nothing happens What to do to get it working?  Versions of R, java, 
and firefox are shown below.

Review Appendix D in the R Installation and Administration Manual.

The current Iced Tea engine does not support the Java-JavaScript bridge,
which precludes the help.start() engine from functioning. You would need 
to use the Sun Java VM, which I believe for 64 bit systems still means 
using the 32-bit version.
