I am trying to create a dendrogram object to be able to display a multiway table. I understand how the dendrogram object is structured, a nested list of lists, but I am having trouble trying to create that structure from a table. Basically, what I would like to do is pass a multiway table, say table(a,b,c) to a function and have it display the table as a dendrogram. If a,b,c, and d are all binary variables then I would have a dendrogram with a split on "a", each branch of "a" would have a split on "b", each of the 4 branches produced by this would split on "c" etc. In the leaves I just want to display the count. (The display part is not a problem, just the construction of the nested list. Any help is much appreciated.
